I stop listening to this book about 3/4 of the way in. I didn’t like the writing and I could not relate to this protagonist.
I almost gave it two stars but then I thought why? One works .

Pedophilia and animal abuse

This was very hard for me. Had the writing been any less beautiful and more gritty there’s no way I would have finished this book. You could tell the author was sympathetic to the abuse going on and that is the only reason it was tolerable. Had I known such subject matter would be discussed I would not have started this.

First, I kept wondering if the narrator was AI.
I skipped through some of the other related cases bc I was bored. I listened to everything pertaining to Lillie and Julie and I don’t understand what makes these murders a hate crime . There wasn’t evidence of for this, they don’t even know who did it. Although that evonitz was top suspect for me. Ewe don’t even want to write his name - sick soul . Anyway it could have been shorter and I think I would have enjoyed it more . And for the record as a straight female I don’t like my chances any more of surviving on a remote trial than my lesbian friends. Murderers gonna murder and usually preying on smaller more vulnerable individuals .

Very entertaining

I must admit the first 2/3 were the best at which point the symbolism for intergenerational trauma kicked in hard and it was more heavy then Hendrix’s other novels. Overall very good and a reminder of why this author is so loved.
