...finished it, but despised it.

I saw the reviews...don't follow the pack. This storyline is alright: young, unfulfilled woman finds a new self in the life of a handicapped patient.
But it was just too trite. This read more like a lifetime movie.

Historia
Leonora, known to some as Lee and others as Nora, is a reclusive crime writer, unwilling to leave her nest of an apartment unless it is absolutely necessary. When a friend she hasn't seen or spoken to in years unexpectedly invites Nora ( Lee) to a weekend away in an eerie glass house deep in the English countryside, she reluctantly agrees to make the trip. Forty-eight hours later, she wakes up in a hospital bed injured but alive, with the knowledge that someone is dead.

Imogene Church reads the hell out of this.
Revisado: 09-11-15
I know for a fact that audiobook narrated by Church made this a better experience. A solid story--along the lines of Girl On a Train.

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Great listen
Revisado: 08-13-15
If it wasn't for the narration of various characters, I'd be a little lost. The narration was on point and I enjoyed the audio version so much more than reading...

Instead of a continuous narrative, this is more a vignettes which I enjoyed immensely. Had to slow down so as not to finish too fast.

Historia
George Harvey Bone has an obsession with the pretty small-time actress Netta. He also drinks heavily and suffers from "dark" moods, where he enters a trance-like state and can't remember what has happened. Throw Netta's often-cruel treatment of him into the mix, and drama beckons.

Story is dark but just what you'd expect from this author. Deeply flawed narrator who has an obsession to kill. Done well. Not gratuitous!

Historia
Edward St. Aubyn's Patrick Melrose novels were some of the most celebrated works of fiction of the past decade. Ecstatic praise came from a wide range of admirers, from literary superstars such as Zadie Smith, Francine Prose, Jeffrey Eugenides, and Michael Chabon to pop-culture icons such as Anthony Bourdain and January Jones. Now St. Aubyn returns with a hilariously smart send-up of a certain major British literary award in this witty audiobook.

Great narration. Wicked writing. Story lines less than engaging but overall a nice read. I've already downloaded other wither work by St. Aubyn.

Historia
Fiona Maye is a High Court judge in London presiding over cases in family court. She is fiercely intelligent, well respected, and deeply immersed in the nuances of her particular field of law. Often the outcome of a case seems simple from the outside, the course of action to ensure a child's welfare obvious. But the law requires more rigor than mere pragmatism, and Fiona is expert in considering the sensitivities of culture and religion when handing down her verdicts.

Solid narration...good story
Revisado: 01-16-15
I was left wanting more from the marriage conflict. So much left unsaid. But story is well-told though the teen in narrative was slightly less than believe. This makes me want to read more short stories by McEwan.

Historia
The story of the physical relationship between the aristocratic protagonist Constance Chatterley and gamekeeper Oliver Mellors - which occurs right under the nose of her wheelchair-bound husband, Clifford. In exploring the class system of the early 20th century, the novel also touches upon the declining coal-mining industry, its effect on the workers, and the politics which surrounded it. Yet possibly the most important theme is the individual’s need for physical as well as intellectual satisfaction.
