Historia
Aged 13, Theo Decker, son of a devoted mother and a reckless, largely absent father, survives an accident that otherwise tears his life apart. Alone and rudderless in New York, he is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. He is tormented by an unbearable longing for his mother, and down the years clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, strangely captivating painting that ultimately draws him into the criminal underworld.

Any additional comments?
I was delighted to find such a long and classy novel. Very pleased to think 'comtemporary Dickens' and find this confirmed in reviews! I will remember it - this is the highest accolade i can give.
I have given it to my 17 year old to read - she finds it hard to get into books as she is caught up in an instant gratification age of social media. Im pleased to report that she's hooked too!

Historia
The story is told by a young 'unknown soldier' in the trenches of Flanders during the First World War. Through his eyes we see all the realities of war: under fire, on patrol, waiting in the trenches, at home on leave, and in hospitals and dressing stations. Although there are vividly described incidents which remain in the mind, there is no sense of adventure here, only the feeling of youth betrayed and a deceptively simple indictment of war—of any war—told for a whole generation of victims.

Audio verses reading
Revisado: 02-19-14
Would you consider the audio edition of American Gods to be better than the print version?
Im learning about the medium of audio books and It reminds me of radio plays when i was young. This is a different reading experience, and this book would have been slightly better for me in print, in order to follow the characters involved. Apart from that excellent in all respects, an inspired writer.
What was one of the most memorable moments of American Gods?
I like the believable blend of reality and fantasy - Like George McDonald (?) C S Lewis
