Although this book was self-published and not that expensive, it was still not a very good value for the read. Even if this story is nonfiction as it is presented it's poorly done and the ending is poor a poor climax. The rider should have had more collaborative input before publishing.

Historia
Lost on Purpose is the nonfiction adventure narrative of a former technology executive who took leave of the real world to reinvent himself as a 21st-century mountain man. In October-November 2013, Patrick Taylor crossed the Rocky Mountains alone on foot. He passed through one of the largest wilderness areas in the lower 48 to reach and retrace the route of Lewis and Clark in the winter. The sacrifices - vocationally, financially, emotionally - are measured against the benefits by the author in a refreshingly honest, humorous, and inspirational fashion.

Modern mountain man might be a stretch
Revisado: 03-11-22
Interesting enough, more about a modern mans struggles with the distraction of real life than a frontiersman's discovery. Still, the perspective and challenge of finding oneself in the wilderness is enlightening to those of us who consider themselves outdoorsy but rarely leave our technologies behind when we backpack. Most would never challenge themselves as Taylor does so respect to the author in that regard. I grew up in Idaho and have hiked these areas. They are rugged and unforgiving and anyone who takes that challenge on in the winter with a 60lb pack will find themselves and their limits. Worth the time if you love the outdoors and want to experience the challenge through someone elses eyes.

Raw, unbiased and truly a look into the real Steve
Revisado: 12-03-21
Why the loyalty from colleagues , now I know! I had heard from friends who worked with Steve how difficult he was. Why they continued on receiving his abuse I could not understand. The answer is complicated, this biography is the best explanation I have found so far. It shares, not explains or apologizes for his unhinged approach to collaboration. Long but never dull or boring this is worth your read.

Creativity, Inc. is a manual for anyone who strives for originality and the first-ever all-access trip into the nerve center of Pixar Animation - into the meetings, postmortems, and “Braintrust” sessions where some of the most successful films in history are made. It is, at heart, a book about creativity - but it is also, as Pixar cofounder and president Ed Catmull writes, “an expression of the ideas that I believe make the best in us possible”.

Historia
In 1834, Osborne Russell joined an expedition from Boston, which proceeded to the Rocky Mountains to capitalize on the lucrative salmon and fur trade. Beginning at the age of 20, he detailed the life of a trapper in his journal and recorded his adventures through treacherous terrain, encounters with dangerous wildlife, and confrontations with the Rockies natives of the Rockies. Osbourne would remain there for the next nine years. Journal of a Trapper is his remarkable account as he developed into an experienced trapper and a seasoned mountain man of the Rockies.

Very accurate, I grew up in this region 👍👍
Revisado: 02-07-21
Although it's not a novel it's well written and the vocabulary is suited for the subject. I grew up and hiked in these locations in the '80s. they have changed immensely since then but much of it was unspoiled when I explored this region. This man lived a miraculous life given all the hazards and near death experiences he had. What a real treasure historically. Good lesson in preservation and how it can be lost so quickly. We can learn many things from this account. my pioneer heritage settled just 20 years after this in the same area. Fort Hall still exists as does the bannock tribe. There is now a reservation in this exact location. I would surmise that the land and fort we're returned to the original
inhabitents due to their good relationships with local leaders.

Deep in the heart of Alaska’s southeast coast lies a place so fearsome that even the native Tlingits avoid it, a place that’s the home of their earthquake god, Kah Lituya. There, those who drown in the bay’s treacherous entrance become kushtaka, ghost-like beings as dangerous as the bay itself.
