I don’t know how weir does it but he pulls me in to where I can’t focus on anything but discovering the end of the story. An incredible story!

Prefer a British narrator

Maybe it’s habit, but the book didn’t sound right with an American accent even though I am American.

I am returning this title

I travel about 50K mikes a year in my car and listen to allot of audiobooks. I return some because they just aren’t my type of book but I really thought this could be my type...wanted to know the ending but. Ouldnt even get there. I developed an intense dislike for Aria which was certainly not what the author intended as she is a devoted mother who cares about the treatment of other species.

Better than the first

This was a great book. I found the first book irritating because not one of the young people could adapt to the trauma they experienced. Working with traumatized teenagers almost daily, this has not been my experience. Some are very flexible and resilient, many adapt and succeed only to have to face their demons on down the road. The first book had a bunch of kids saying this can’t be happening for weeks or months. This has not been my experience do I found that difficult to get past,

This second book was much better, in my opinion.

If you are going to use an existing world, of whatever period, you should be realistic. It would be better to say the lights went out and the protagonist has no idea why. a 2nd grader could figure out that N. Korea doesn't have enough ships to invade, that China would never let them destroy us because of our economic co-dependence, and a whole host of ideas/happenings that anyone who reads and watches the news would understand. Yes, its fiction but the author is starting right now and making it appear it is a current event or close to current. zero research.

Naton is one of the dumbest protagonists I have ever encountered. Over and over he has to relearn things he already knew. I really enjoyed the first book but Naton's stupidity was so bad I couldn't even finish the second one.

Yes.

What did you like best about this story?

Everything. The problem I have with the series is that it is too compressed. Magic wielders who have had limited abilities for years or decades all the sudden find there powers increased 20 fold in a matter of weeks or months. It felt forced...as if the author had an outcome and had to get to it within a year or two of book time. Not even buying the fourth book

Disappointed in the series. Have never enjoyed a first book and then developed no desire to read the last book before.
