Historia
2019: Thirteen-year-old Lila Sawyer has secrets she can’t share with anyone. Not the school psychologist she’s seeing. Not her father, who has a new wife, and a new baby. And not her mother - the infamous Caroline Sawyer, a unique artist whose eerie sculptures, made from bent twigs and crimped leaves, have made her a local celebrity. But soon Lila feels haunted from within, terrorized by a delicious evil that shows her how to find her voice - until she is punished for using it.

A Work of Art
Revisado: 11-21-22
Kristi DeMeester is an amazing talent who knows how to plunge a reader to the depths of anxiety and despair. This is a work of art painted in shades of fear and pain. And none of it would matter a bit if love wasn't woven throughout. Another winner for me.

Ugh! Dad Jokes Mixed With Right Wing Tantrums
Revisado: 08-09-19
Thankfully I got this for free. I wish I could return it.
15 minutes in and nothing really starts except for eye-rollingly bad Dad jokes and a bunch of right wing tantrums.
Not for me!

Historia
For Josh, falling in love does not fit in with his rock and roll lifestyle. And falling for someone who believes in mermaids? Who wants to be one? Well, he wasn't expecting that, either. But the sea is deep with mysteries. Sometimes they wash ashore, whispered in the hush of a quiet tide, and all you have to do is listen. Other times you have to explore the dark beneath the surface yourself, unsure of what you might find....

2 Good Stories
Revisado: 03-28-19
Water for Drowning is very well written. It is an interesting twist on an old myth and deeply emotional. Shark Shark is just plain fun.

Enchanting story, enchanting voice.
Revisado: 03-26-19
This was an enchanting story told with an enchanting voice. I love Victor's fiction and this is his best yet. I'm expecting more great works from him in the future. I was leery about him performing the audio version because an author reading their own work can often turn out to be a distraction, or worse. I was more than pleasantly surprised. I could listen to him read from the dictionary his voice is so good. I loved every minute of this.

I wish I could get my money back
Revisado: 05-23-13
What would have made The Sword of Shannara better?
I could not have been made better unless it wasn't written at all
Has The Sword of Shannara turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?
I've always liked Scott and will gladly listen to more books he narrates
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No
Any additional comments?
I decided to listen to this because it has been around for a long time and has a rather large following, and I was looking for some good fantasy. It did not live up to the hype.
At best, it is a tepid rewrite of The Lord of the Rings, or at least the structure of the classic story. I'm sure some might say that this work was "influenced" by Tolkien but I would disagree. The patterns are too close to be called influence or homage. The thing is, Tolkien did it so much better. I won't get nitpicky and go over all the various things that bugged me about this book. Let's just say that I was hoping to start a series that would keep me wanting more and carry me through each book and looking forward to the next, but instead I found a book that made me groan and force myself to stick through and see it to the end. Waste of money, waste of time.
