Historia
No discussion of great modern authors is complete without mention of Cormac McCarthy, whose rare and blazing talent makes his every work a true literary event. A grand addition to the American literary canon, Suttree introduces readers to Cornelius Suttree, a man who abandons his affluent family to live among a dissolute array of vagabonds along the Tennessee river.

Absolute masterpiece. Hilarious, engaging, dark.

Would you listen to Suttree again? Why?
I plan on listening to this book again, the vocabulary used by the author is so exceptional at painting visuals in your mind, like no other author I've read.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Suttree?
Like many of the characters written by this author, you feel such empathy and wish good things to happen for them. Each time Suttree seems to find joy, you feel it with him.
What does Richard Poe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Richard Poe brings a talented voice to each character, it adds a dimension to them that accentuates the story. Phenomenal voice work.
Who was the most memorable character of Suttree and why?
Beyond Suttree himself, Gene Harrowgate was my personal favorite. His blundering schemes and shock at his failures had me truly laughing out loud. His was such a naive yet endearing character, you hoped for him to succeed in his madness.
Any additional comments?
One of the best stories I've listened to in a long, long time. I love Cormac McCarthy, The Road was my introduction to him. The language and range of his vocabulary used in telling his stories are excellent and used so effectively to paint such vivid imagery for the listener that you find yourself immersed so deeply it's as though you're bystander in each scene. I found myself feeling true emotions for the well-being of each character and rejoicing in their successes and mourning their hardships. That to me is the sign of a truly well crafted story.

Sad tale of a dark time in human history.
Revisado: 06-07-15
Well written follow up to Dances with Wolves. The story tells a more accurate account of history than you'll find in most schools. Narration is well done but would have been more fitting to have someone such as Graham Greene. Well worth the listen for both the story itself and for the glimpse into a tragic period of North American history.

Alex Grecian does it again!
Revisado: 05-26-15
Excellently crafted tale once again, this is a fantastic series each book building on the prior. Well rounded characters, brought to life by the narrator in such vivid colour. It takes a great talent to be able to voice so many characters with such variety. Too many audio characters are nearly indistinguishable from each, not so here. The only solace to take from the cliffhanger ending is that it promises a continuation of the story. I for one will be eagerly anticipating it's release!

Bosch does it again

Another excellent chapter in the Harry Bosch series! Took a little time to accept Titus as the voice of Bosch, more accustomed to him as Everett Hitch and Virgil Cole. He did admirably, though I still prefer Dick Hill.
