Another Great Story From Roma Gray
Revisado: 12-24-18
I've listened to a couple other audio books from this author, and really like her style. Her quick horror books always manage to be pretty comprehensive, very interesting, and this is no exception.
The narrator may be trying a little too hard on the voices. This is very subjective, of course, but for me, there's too much going on, particularly with the clown character. Other than that, the voice is solid and I stayed engaged in the story.

Great Story, Fast Read
Revisado: 12-23-18
I've listened to Roma Gray's work before, though this particular narrator was new to me. I enjoyed the story itself very much. While very short, she still manages to create room for suspense, intrigue, and a bit of fear. And spiders, of course, are something very few of us actually enjoy, much less aren't creeped out by. Especially smart ones, which these are.
The narrator, Terry Self, does a nice job with his tone, and particularly with action scenes. However, whether it's through his natural cadence or editing, it's just too fast. There are no spaces for the listener to absorb anything, every sentence, phrase, word, comes at a very rapid rate. We wouldn't necessarily need a slow, brooding recital, but I'd love to hear the story more moderately paced.
I look forward to exploring more of Roma's work!

Fantastic Stories Expertly Narrated
Revisado: 12-14-18
This is a collection of stories that aren't exactly horror, but are, as the subtitle suggests, quite twisted. The twists usually come at the end, turning what you thought was happening completely around. These twists are crafted in clever ways, and I found myself amused and surprised quite often.
The narration by both artists is superb. A very natural flow that engages each and every time, with a lot of color and personality. It was a pleasure to listen to this collection.

Despite a great performance, could have been more
Revisado: 11-25-18
This is a ludicrously short horror story and a ghost/demon/something that terrorizes a family when they move into a new house. It's fairly predictable, but jumps around so quickly, there's no time to absorb and appreciate much. Kind of strange.
Scott Brick's narration, however, is great. He puts a LOT of life into the production, and I guess this is something that really makes me want more out of the story. It's too short to allow him to really dig into it, though he certainly gives it a nice effort.

Historia
One by one, cities have been falling to a terrorist attack. No one can stop the terrorists or figure out where the next attack will take place. All that is known is when the attacks start, the strange gas the terrorists use turns the moon a blood red, and black shadows of men and women are seen, slinking among the buildings. Yet, somehow, not a single survivor has managed to provide a solid description of the people attacking their towns. Most contribute this to the mysterious gas that seems to put the residence into a temporary psychotic state, but what if it’s something more than that?

Good Horror, From Start To Finish
Revisado: 08-21-18
If you're looking for a bite-sized chunk of terror, this book provides it. It's short, 26 minutes long, and kind of drops you in to an existing situation; the characters already know of the evil around them, and to be sure, there could easily be a deeply woven back-story to go with this. But not all books need it, and from the beginning, you get hit with visceral fear and horror.
The narrator did a fine job with this. Portrayed each character well, without going too crazy in trying to change his voice. Perhaps it could have been a bit smoother overall, but that's nit-picking. He really nailed down the tone, and that helped sell it for me.

A Fun Romp
Revisado: 08-14-18
This was a very interesting listen. From the start, you're greeted with an unmistakable accent and attitude that actually seems a bit much. But the story is so engaging, and the delivery of the narration so enthusiastic, it's really not an issue. Brett is a fairly empty, cliched dude, but he embraces it, and that's what helps it sell. Very good job!

Concise, Yet Very Informative
Revisado: 07-31-18
The title kind of gives it away, but that's a very good thing. If you're reading or listening to it, you're hoping to learn 50 things to help clean and organize your life, and that's exactly what you get. Certainly, some things you've heard of and likely incorporate into your life in some way. But there will definitely be learning opportunities here as well.
The narrator has a very nice voice, a perfect fit for this genre. I thought that perhaps his pacing was a little slow for my liking, a lot of pauses, but then, you're asked to absorb a lot of information in a short amount of time. So, this may just come down to a personal preference. Overall, I enjoyed the performance!

A Fast-Paced Adventure
Revisado: 07-15-18
I enjoyed this audio book quite a bit. The premise is solid and intriguing right up to the end. The characters are given a lot of depth, and you understand where they're coming from.
The narration is solid. Alan has a very nice, pleasant voice for all of the main "narrator" parts. I thought a couple of the deep-voiced characters were a little jarring. He may have been trying to put a tough, southern touch on them, but they sounded a bit harsh, jarring. That's just nit-picking, I would definitely recommend it.
