they switch narrators for this book. I was VERY upset at first, but adjusted pretty quickly. I don't think I liked one more than the other but it was frustrating that there was a switch. I still recommend the series and still plan to continue listening to the next book

Historia
Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she’s now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people. As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre’s hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different people: one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin.

loving the series

I'm not usually a fan of listening to romance novels, it's always felt "weird". But the narrator does a great job. I'm hooked on the series and am ready to get the next one

In Hunt, Gather, Parent, Doucleff sets out with her three-year-old daughter in tow to learn and practice parenting strategies from families in three of the world’s most venerable communities: Maya families in Mexico, Inuit families above the Arctic Circle, and Hadzabe families in Tanzania. She sees that these cultures don’t have the same problems with children that Western parents do.

overall a great read/listen
Revisado: 04-29-23
Overall I would say that this was a pretty good book. The author brought some perspectives that I think are desperately needed and missing from our western society. I believe these perspectives, practices, and ancient wisdoms can and would be incredibly helpful... But there are certainly challenges to implementing many of these things in our society. there were also a couple of things that I am not sure that I agree with (such as how helpful a child should be, or how much responsibility an older sibling should have over their younger sibling) but bringing these perspectives to light, is certainly causing much introspection on my part. It has also been fodder for some good conversations about parenting with my spouse. I am excited to discuss this book with some of my mom-friends and will definitely be encouraging others to read it. there is plenty from this book that I think I will be able to implement in my parenting approaches with my kids. I am grateful for her research, even if I don't think that absolutely every aspect of it is realistic in our current, western society.

Boy was this tough to get through. This book was filled with great, informative material; and it was through my dedication to learning the information that I made it through listening to the narration.

Historia
If you’re struggling to stay on top of your to-do list, you probably have a good reason: anxiety, fatigue, depression, ADHD, or lack of support. For therapist KC Davis, the birth of her second child triggered a stress-mess cycle. The more behind she felt, the less motivated she was to start. She didn’t fold a single piece of laundry for seven months. One life-changing realization restored her sanity—and the functionality of her home: You don’t work for your home; your home works for you.

This book further helped me understand that I have struggles with executive function and I just need to continue to build the right supports for myself...NOT that there is something wrong, lazy or selfish about me. I definitely recommend this book (especially for those in their late pregnancy/early postpartum stages, neurodivergent or not!)

great book
Revisado: 04-24-22
some have noted that they were frustrated with the authors reading the book...I didn't find this problematic at all and felt they did great with narration. This is science, not a fictional chapter book so I didn't expect it to read as such. I stayed engaged and learning all the while. I will definitely be having my husband listen to this one, and will mention it to friends as well. This book is a must for every parent.

If you understand what it's like to be caught up in the trap of binge eating, emotional eating, mindless eating, or the constant loop of dieting and binge eating, then this audiobook is for you. Compulsive eating, then dieting, then cheating on your diet, then bingeing, then starting a new diet again is like being trapped in an undertow.

great listen
Revisado: 03-12-22
Just finished the audiobook and ended up buying the accompanying workbook. I'm excited to work through the exercises and so far, just what bits I've remembered are helping I think. I'm hopeful to actually slow down and try working through the various exercises.
I couldn't find a single in-person or video-chat therapist who took insurance and would see me as an adult in my area; and the virtual therapist I found was hardly helpful. They did recommend this book though, and I'm thankful I started listening to it. I'm sure this won't "cure" everyone, but I think there is likely valuable information/support to some extent for everyone in this book. good luck to you on your journey

Great listen for empowerment
Revisado: 09-14-21
Definitely a great listen, especially if you have Celtic ancestry that you long to connect with (though I'm sure there are many aspects that would resonate with other readers...it particularly hit home with me). After finishing the book, I feel more comfortable in my body, and more empowered as a woman and as a Celt to be an active part in the changes I long to see in our world.
The discussion of balance between male and female energies was also particularly helpful for me. As I continue to grow and embolden my own femininity, I have begun to really contemplate parenting styles with my sons. This book offered a few passages that allowed for deeper reflection in this area; and I hope will help me hold a balanced parenting philosophy.

Historia
Most mothers have experienced exhaustion, pain, forgetfulness, indecision, low energy levels, moodiness, or some form of baby brain. And it's no wonder: The process of growing a baby depletes a mother's body in substantial ways. But with postnatal care ending after six weeks, most women never learn how to rebuild their strength and care for their bodies after childbirth. As a result, they can suffer from the effects of depletion for many years, without knowing what's wrong as well as getting the support and treatments that they need.

This book is a great starting point for anyone struggling with their body postpartum. It offers some good insights and talking points to begin the discussion with your healthcare providers about tests to run, lifestyle changes to make etc. I bought a hard copy to keep as a reference source when working with my own pre and post natal clients (certified pre/post natal personal trainer and health coach).
