Extremely outdated essay on editing
Revisado: 11-30-24
This is not really a book. It's extremely short kind of history of editing with some stories from editing the movies the author worked on. There is almost nothing that would actually lecture you on editing itself. Yes, there are a few tips, but for those half a page would probably be more than enough. The rest is just extra storytelling that is barely relevant to the film editing today. Narration is perfect, no problem there.

Narcissism and self promotion
Revisado: 10-30-24
Don’t get me wrong, there are some useful tips in the book. They could probably be summarized on a few pages, certainly they do not need the entire book. The rest is filled with redundant repetitions, bragging and promotion of author’s products and services (it basically is one big sales pitch for his coaching).
BTW have you ever wondered that all those who have "bulletproof" recipe for success are generally in the business of selling you that recipe and their coaching? :)
The author himself claims that this "guaranteed" plan helped over 100 entrepreneurs to achieve the $1M revenue. Are you wondering why it didn't work for the remaining 99% of those who bought the book? :).
If you listen to the book, you'll also probably figure out that the positive reviews here are either arranged or bought (it's literally what he repeats over and over as one of the key pillars of his business model).
Also the correct title would be Handbook to Selling on Amazon.
Another important point is that the $1M business author keeps talking about is $1M of revenue (which also can be achieved at 0 profit or even at a loss).
Whether anything of the author claims is true, of course, remains for anyone to verify. If you run a quick search on the author, it's not even easy to find any independent proof that he is the serial successful entrepreneur he claims to be.
The big issue is the entire mindset it’s wrapped around the number of millions you can sell your business for. It certainly is not any healthy ambition, it’s not even just greed, it’s literal manifestation of mental illness of those who believe that quickly making a business and then selling it for $1M (or 10 or 100 or whatever) is some sort of happiness they couldn’t achieve any other way.
There is nothing wrong with being entrepreneur, creating great products and connecting with your audience and there’s nothing wrong with earning on your efforts. But it is time to see how sad an empty are lives of those whose life ambition are such meaningless goals as selling a business for x millions or owning a sports club. Psychotic greed and grotesquely twisted set of life values are the common driving force of all evil in this world from slavery and exploitation to wars.

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

Subjective and emotionally "righteous"
Revisado: 08-21-22
The book has some good concepts, but interestingly enough, the author explains how people find the reasons based on how they feel about a particular topic, only for him to slide exactly into that mode and present his opinion supported by pseudoscientific oversimplified jumping into conclusions that suit his point of view. Here and there, he's browsing and quoting fields he lacks understanding. The book is also highly US-centric and mainly broadcasts the author's political/religious opinions he seems to believe are not just as emotional as anyone else's.
Once again, there are a few good points but no revelation or ultimate truth here. As long as it's approached as some person's opinion, I don't think it's bad, and there is a bit to learn, but it's also redundant with excess of mumbo jumbo so typical for these kinds of books. The narrator definitely does a great job, though.

During the year 1866, ships of several nations spot a mysterious sea monster, which some suggest to be a giant narwhal. The United States government assembles an expedition in New York City to find and destroy the monster. Professor Pierre Aronnax, a French marine biologist and narrator of the story, who happens to be in New York at the time, receives a last-minute invitation to join the expedition which he accepts. A big no no
Revisado: 04-19-22
I never read Jules Verne until I saw it’s free at an audible premium. I finished Journey to the center of the earth, which was terrible and absolutely boring. I gave it one more try with 20 000 leagues under the sea, but I can’t continue in it only after a few chapters. There is a mighty creature living in the sea... What a sick mind comes with nothing else than a plot to kill it? Jules Verne should only be taught of as a shining example of the worst writing and storytelling skills, but obviously, he was also a terrible person. The narrator is doing a great job and he should look for narrating something meaningful.

Outdated nonsense about nothing
Revisado: 04-05-22
2hrs description of a stone collection, completely forgettable characters and boring story where nothing happens, maybe this was good 150years ago or if people had nothing else to read. Waste of time. Why were we taught about this in school? I actually suffered the whole way through hoping that at least something interesting will happen at some point, but that moment never came. It's not a science fiction but complete nonsense written with the naivity of 3 years old who never left home but decided to write about an expedition. Maybe the only good thing is that the narrator does a good job in distinguishing the lines from different characters, but the characters are so pathetic that even this effort is futile.

Historia
Ordered to hold an abandoned army post, John Dunbar found himself alone, beyond the edge of civilization. Thievery and survival soon forced him into the Indian camp, where he began a dangerous adventure that changed his life forever. Set in 1863, the novel follows Lieutenant John Dunbar on a magical journey from the ravages of the Civil War to the far reaches of the imperiled American frontier, a frontier he naively wants to see "before it is gone".
