Historia
A vast canvas of camps, prisons, transit centres and secret police, of informers and spies and interrogators but also of everyday heroism, The Gulag Archipelago is Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's grand masterwork. Based on the testimony of some 200 survivors, and on the recollection of Solzhenitsyn's own 11 years in labour camps and exile, it chronicles the story of those at the heart of the Soviet Union who opposed Stalin, and for whom the key to survival lay not in hope but in despair.

Historia
Classic ideas and ancient concepts broken down for the modern age. A non-academic approach to better living and greater happiness. Philosophy doesn’t have to be pointless and boring. If we can cut through the difficult language and roundabout reasoning, we’ll find a treasure trove of knowledge and enlightenment. But don’t worry, this is no textbook.

Historia
We human beings share 98 percent of our genes with chimpanzees. Yet humans are the dominant species on the planet - having founded civilizations and religions, developed intricate and diverse forms of communication, learned science, built cities, and created breathtaking works of art - while chimps remain animals concerned primarily with the basic necessities of survival. What is it about that two percent difference in DNA that has created such a divergence between evolutionary cousins?

Historia
From the author of 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos comes a provocative hypothesis that explores the connection between what modern neuropsychology tells us about the brain and what rituals, myths, and religious stories have long narrated. A cutting-edge work that brings together neuropsychology, cognitive science, and Freudian and Jungian approaches to mythology and narrative, Maps of Meaning presents a rich theory that makes the wisdom and meaning of myth accessible to the critical modern mind.

Revisado: 11-30-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. I have already done so.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Sapiens?
It's hard to pinpoint any exactly. I listened to this on my way to/from work over a few days and was caught up in every word. I do love the explanations on the "imagined" realities of the human species.
What does Derek Perkins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Very good narrator.
If you could give Sapiens a new subtitle, what would it be?
The species that conquered Earth
Any additional comments?
A must read for anyone who considers themselves a human or alien trying to understand our species.
WARNING: if you have strong views on the origins of mankind, politics, culture, religion, or you're generally closed-minded, then parts of this book may upset you.
