Historia
Adam One, the kindly leader of the God's Gardeners - a religion devoted to the melding of science and religion, the preservation of all species and the tending of the Earth - has long predicted the Waterless Flood. Now it has occurred, obliterating most human life. Two women have avoided it: the young trapeze-dancer, Ren, locked into the high-end sex club; and former SecretBurgers meat-slinger turned Gardener, Toby, barricaded into a luxurious spa. Have others survived?

Incredibile work of imagination
Revisado: 11-15-18
A truly interesting dark prediction of the future: violent and imoral. I'm surprised by the authors imagination and creativity. Nice psychological analysis of the characters. Interesting disorganized chronology and multiple perspectives in the narration. I highly recommend it.

A sharp analysis of the conflict. Its consequences are surprising. Figes combines many different perspectives of political, economical and cultural history. A great work.

An amazing and touching history about the polio epidemics in New York. It also offers a very interesting and convincing psychological portrait of lacked heroism and gratuitous self-denial. Another great novel by Roth.

An interesting and well learned account of biology, pandemics, ecology and history of disease. Very easy to read and listen to and it is a good synthesis of the state of the art in epidemiology. I recommend it highly.

Very interesting and learned history of the development of modern farmacology. It offers fine and well interpreted data and, at the same time, is easy and fun to read. I've learned a lot from it.

The reading is nice, but the audio files are cut abruptly in the end of almost every chapter, so pieces and bits of the story are lost. This should be corrected at the earliest.

Literature at its best: a hilarious, sarcastic and profoundly poetic history of this most unlikly relationship between the jew Madame Rosa and the muslim Momo. I highly recommend it.

And expecional panorama of a century. Evans takes into consideration dozens of perspectives into consideration and discusses economic, political, cultural history in an organic and interesting way. One of the the very few truly comparative works of history. It will become a classic.

Historia
When Indonesia's Mount Tambora erupted in 1815, it unleashed the most destructive wave of extreme weather the world has witnessed in thousands of years. The volcano's massive sulfate dust cloud enveloped the Earth, cooling temperatures and disrupting major weather systems for more than three years. Amid devastating storms, drought, and floods, communities worldwide endured famine, disease, and civil unrest on a catastrophic scale.

Fascinating and learned study
Revisado: 04-21-18
This book discusses the eruption of Tambora and its consequences drawing from a variety of fields: cultural history, literary studies, climate sciences, geology and epidemiology. It is profoundly original and a trully fascinating piece of environmental history and ecocriticism.

Outdated and naive
- De Aureo Lustosa Guerios Neto en 04-16-18
Outdated and naive
Revisado: 04-16-18
De Kruis is a very fine narrator and his sincere admiration and enthusiasm for the scientists whose works he discusses is really contagious. But still this book doesn't deserve your time.
De Kruis' outlook on the history of science is outdated and naive, to say the least. He doesn't take into consideration any broader historical context and childishly (and incorrectly) depicts the history of bacterilogy as "a great adventure into new continents conducted by great, corageous and ingenious men" or something like that. If you are interested in Pasteur specifically, make sure you read Bruno La Tour's, The Pasteurization of France instead.
The book was written almost a hundred years ago, so it's no wonder that its time we put it to rest. Simply put, look for other books in the history of bacteriology.
