Enjoyed this chapter by chapter build up of difficult moments in the protagonist, Ana's life. I had pictured a different ending and so it's nice when your predictions don't ring true. A captivating and enticing story.

Loved listening to this book. The way the family, sisters and relationships weaved in and out and how each sister created their own path! Am now interested in reading more of the authors work.
Definitely was worth it! 👍🏼

Martha Stewart revisited...

This is my 2nd time listening to this audio book. I truly enjoy hearing about Martha's personality, drive, and grit. She is a so self driven and head strong. I find this book uplifting and a pleasure to listen to. 🙂

Great story!!!

The Yellow Wife was a very interesting story about a young girl raised on a plantation and the story of her life. It was sometimes difficult to hear about how they treated slaves on the plantation and at the jail house where she ended up. I loved hearing about Ms. Phoebe's boldness and how she found the courage to work through all of her difficulties.

This is an amazing story of drive, resilience and what you can accomplish with a strong sense of self. This should be a book students read in middle school or high school. It should be a part of the curriculum so that all young people understand how African American ancestors had to struggle to move forward and continue to fight for equality and justice. This book was beautifully written and the author definitely did a great deal of research to write it. I commend her for her hard work bringing this wonderful book to light and applaud all the people who added each thread of knowledge and information in order for this to be written. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Loved this Josephine Leary story!!!

Really enjoyed listening to this book. Loved all the details, from the clothing worn at this time in history to the description of the horse, city location and all the details of the different characters and how they enriched Josephine's life.

I think I might like to listen to it again. 😊 Also really enjoyed the narrators different voices and southern accents. Felt like I was at the table for the different suppers and in the barber shop watching folks get their hair cut. I'm going to look into other books this writer has written as well as books the narrator has worked on. Thank you for putting this out. Truly enjoyed it!

Love Minnie Driver's voice. So warm and wise. Sounds like it will be inspirational. Will definitely purchase her new book and look for future books. Also will probably meet her in the future during my own book signing.
