Historia
In this brilliant book, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. Beautifully written, original, and revealing, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is an eye-opening story of people and history, and a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.

Excellent Read
Revisado: 10-16-21
This book was a fast read. It held my attention because I can identify with all of information and experiences as a person of color. My family and myself have lived through segregation and people of color are resilient and forgiving people but I wholeheartedly agree with caste is not of our making . People of color are not the originators of such a system. The author is right…open your eyes and wake up to what is the truth. Excellent read and truth telling. Thanks to the author. Narrator was awesome in her delivery.

Historia
Spanning more than 200 years, An African American and Latinx History of the United States is a revolutionary, politically charged narrative history arguing that the "Global South" was crucial to the development of America as we know it. Ortiz challenges the notion of westward progress, and shows how placing African American, Latinx, and Indigenous voices unapologetically front and center transforms American history into the story of the working class organizing against imperialism.

Knowledge is Power
Revisado: 09-24-21
The narrator narrated very well. Excellent book. My history knowledge has increased and the plight for freedom, civil rights, and human rights is the same for African Americans and Latin people. We are very much connected with rich history and we must not forget. The book was so informative that I finished it in one day…that’s how powerful it is. It held my attention. Well done!

Excellent. I loved this book. It has given me much knowledge about Congressman Clyburn. I always was curious about his history and it is rich. It is good to know that there is someone left in Congress who cares about the plight of the people. This how I feel after reading this book.

I loved the narration of this book. The narrator sounded as if he was also enjoying the book as well. The music reflects who Maurice White was and I love that. I am thankful that I was in the generation during the creation of the music, My husband and I have always liked EWF’s music. The book is excellent and recommend everyone read it especially younger people so they can open their minds up about real music and less hip hop.

Historia
When two men meet in the Virginia state penitentiary in a maximum security visitation room on May 5, 1968, they have only one thing in common: they both want their lives back. On one side of a glass divider sits Kenneth Deatherage, who was sentenced to death for the brutal rape and murder of a young woman. The jury agreed with the prosecutor's closing argument: that all evidence points to Deatherage as the killer. But Deatherage says the evidence was fabricated.

The narrator was not boring. The book held my attention and it was with a great plot. I love how the author put his skill as a lawyer into it. It is a story is true to life when you look at the atrocities that Africans in America have gone through since slavery.
