Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Phenomenal journey

This in-depth story with interesting strong characters held me so tightly I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. I laughed and cried. Susan Elizabeth Phillips is an incredible story teller. This was the first book I have read by her and a whole new world is now open to me. I grew to love Nell, Matt, Lucy and Button and thoroughly enjoyed their journey.

Likeable characters

Although the story was fantasy, as it went along I found myself liking them together and caring about them. Frederic’s considerate and loving nature was so endearing, and Cassie’s attraction to him was never in doubt. Very sweet!

Seatmate was an unexpected breath of fresh air due to the clever story line, the lively banter, and outstanding narration. I especially enjoyed the background noise as it made me feel like I was listening to a movie. Heartwarming. Smile worthy. Poignant. Just superb!

Emotional and riveting

To me, this was the most complex and poignant book by Penny Reid that I have read. I’m a huge fan of her humor and romantic style of writing. However, I learned a great deal from this book, and appreciated the transformation in each of the main characters. It made me laugh, gave me goosebumps, and brought me to tears on several occasions. Thank you, Penny Reid, for this marvelous read.
