Historia
Tom Segura is known for his twisted takes and irreverent comedic voice. But after a few years of crazy tours and churning out podcasts weekly, all while parenting two young children, he desperately needs a second to himself. It’s not that he hates his friends and family — he’s not a monster — he’s just beat, which is why his son’s (ruthless) first full sentence, “I’d like to play alone, please,” has since become his mantra.

Not comedy
Revisado: 11-15-24
I got two chapters into this. It’s boring, it’s not comedy. I hated it. I wish I never purchased it.

It was a day like any other when suddenly the world changed. The universe reached a threshold humanity didn’t even know existed, and it was time to finally be integrated into the vast multiverse. A place where power is the only thing anyone can truly rely on.

Boring. MC is completely overpowered. Slow
Revisado: 09-07-24
I choked down book 1. it is so ridiculous. the mc gets 3 options and it goes like this: 1.trash 2.trash 3. god mode
did you know he can see through walls? He has like 25% increased stats compared to everyone. blah blah...
book 1 spends hours boringly trying to make the reader ok with completely unrealistic game mechanics supposedly distracting you from the fact that there is no story. theres nothing to engage with besides this ridiculous idea of a system.
what idiot author makes the two mane characters Jake, and Jacob? are you for real? Maybe if it was engaging enough to care! I don't know that you should be stroking yourself just yet my guy... it has to be good first.
this and Noob Town are the reasons the genre is dead. They are everything bad. Try TRS or DCC if you wish to enjoy the next ≈ week of your life.

Loved and hated it
Revisado: 06-17-24
The classes and powers and system is just so stupid and far fetched. Some of the writing I can’t stand, but I like the world and I’m reading book 2.

In the Prime Kingdoms, the system dominates everything. It dictates one’s strength, skills, and power. It spawns dungeons and guides the actions of their monsters. But every system has its limits, and it’s about to push four oddball adventurers to theirs.

Exceptionally good
Revisado: 06-03-24
I like Travis B. and that led me to this. The characters felt good, maybe towards the end the names got slightly confusing (quantity) but I’m poor with names. Story was good, had depth that was pleasant and unexpected, made me think about stuff : ) and left me wanting more!
This was better than other 90% LitRPGs I have read (maybe a couple dozen or so. They have been popular).. but not the best ever though I’m not sure I can mention other titles in this review. Well.. happy hunting

Tedious, long explanations
Revisado: 01-17-24
The story was fine and I could see someone enjoying it. For me the author spends so long in the details I couldn’t take it. It isn’t “an AK” it’s “an AK-M9 with a carbon barrel and a red dot scope. One like Reiner used to shoot when he was practicing back in camp. A gun he knew he could trust.” On and on for every insignificant thing. It’s terrible.

Historia
When I—along with my best friend and his big purple monster boyfriend—come across a fortress-like raider camp while journeying across the monster-infested Wastes, we stop to deliver a message. Somehow, that simple pit stop turns into a seemingly impossible quest to get this camp's missing leader out of the prison where he's being held and forced to fight monsters and other humans. I know exactly where it is because I've been there. Problem is, I'm making this journey with the prickliest and most arrogant guy I've ever met, who seems to hate me on sight. Oh, and he's also half-monster.

Sam and Sadie—two college friends, often in love, but never lovers—become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. It is a love story, but not one you have heard before.

I couldn’t do it
Revisado: 12-31-23
I’ve enjoyed many books in this genre and was excited for this book. Two hours and twenty five minutes in (over a few tries) I got to say, I’m throwing in the towel. I want to get to the meat, unlock the novels mysteries, it’s just so darn boring. The characters aren’t cool, hot, funny, special; they are built up at this point to be lame leaving the reader completely uninterested. This probably changes but after two hours it’s ruff. The tangents to every detail of the story is laborious and feels cliche and over done.

Historia
After dying and being reborn into a world that's built like a video game, Jim has found himself stuck in a very old-world style new-player zone for low-level adventurers. Unfortunately, the zone fell out of use centuries ago, and no one told the monsters they were supposed to take it easy on the Noobs. Even worse, the only new player around is Jim. Jim has been given an opportunity, and he'll do his best to take advantage of it.

It's just ok
Revisado: 12-21-23
I have been reading a lot of LitRPG lately. I'm 2 books into Noobtown and I got to say, I was expecting more.
It's fun, it's casual and it's an easy story to follow. My problem is that it doesn't excel at anything and it's not that good of quality. Everything that it does, I can think of examples where it has been done better, I think The Ripple System (excellent) is smarter and has better comedy and characters. I like the sexual angst or whatever it is called more in Super Sales on Super Heroes.
Lastly, I see a lot of reviews where listeners don't like how LitRPG's get way into the numbers, or lost in the system, Noobtown is the worst offender in books. I have listened to so far.
I think if you are low on options waiting for your next main release this series is ok. I think for me it's going to be the first that I don't finish.

Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Excellent!
Revisado: 11-18-23
I have now listened to the first 5 books of this series. It took me a little to get into Carl’s voice but I now really like it. The story, combat, and pace are excellent. It also has good comedy. Most of the characters I like, some are excellent, but I have had a few times where Donut annoys me.
Just a heads up, sometimes the story can be dark and depressing. But there is a point to it.
