Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Relatable to anyone with a narcissist parent
Revisado: 01-15-23
I applaud her honesty and bravery to come out and tell her painful story, most couldn't. There are sadly too many of us that can deeply relate in one way or another. Many narcissists are more self involved, she lived through the unthinkable. Abuse and control being directly, solely on her the majority of time. The lengths her mother went through to control and own every inch of her body are disgusting. I hope she's able to find peace, and the ability to stand up for herself after a lifetime of being bulldozed. Absolutely glad her mother is no longer here to torment her.

Historia
Viral mom blogger Brooke Binkley tells her painful story about the domestic violence she endured while simultaneously becoming a public figure, and uses her story to highlight the many types of domestic violence that both victims and survivors experience. On the outside, Brooke was the funny vlogger making moms laugh across the world, but behind closed doors, she was experiencing nearly every form of domestic violence that existed.

audible butchered this book for some reason
Revisado: 07-22-22
the chapters are missing huge chunks , audible cut large sections out and it's really disappointing. definitely not the authors fault, its a great book would love to hear all of it!
