I knew the basic story, but wasn't expecting to be so impressed with the detailed story and sincere delivery by Cassidy. She is very complimentary of the former president in many ways, but her clear opinion of right and wrong compelled her to testify when the constitution was being ignored. I consider her an American hero, and wish more Americans would listen to this book to gain her perspective.

The author does a good job of sharing information about CTE which is contrary to what we generally hear. His personal experience and references from experts paints a more balanced picture of the disease and suggests that the focus on football, and especially the movement to eliminate youth football, should be reconsidered.

The author reads the introduction of the book and explains that he would do a disservice to the material if he were to narrate the entire book. Fortunately, the narrator he chose, T.L. Howell, does an amazing job of telling the story and pronounce some challenging medical terminology.

I recommend this book for anyone who has read or heard the fear-inducing stories of CTE and also for anyone who has a child in youth sports.

Great story, poor choice for narrator

Story is written by a legendary broadcaster who speaks with great enthusiasm. The narrator does not convey that level of enthusiasm and also wasn't given the courtesy of help with pronouncing important names. John Wooden is a ucla guy, but still he doesn't deserve to have his name pronounced "WOO-den". Tommy Prothro, also a bruin, name shouldn't rhyme with "broth-RO". And legendary Trojan Pete Beathard is not "BEAT-hard". This book is a treasure of memories for a USC fan, so it's disappointing that the producers didn't put more effort into matching the story with a better narration.

The culture and environment that Pete Carroll created at USC and the Seattle Seahawks has proven successful in creating winning teams that care for each other and maximize their potential. This Audible Original covers the philosophies of Coach Carroll and superstar sports psychologist Dr. Michael Gervais as they explain, step by step, the process of competing to be your best self and bringing out the best in those around you. Besides their practical application with winning sports teams and individuals, Coach Carroll and Dr. Gervais have used this same approach in the Performance Science Institute program they created at the Marshall Business School at USC, which teaches students from all majors throughout the campus. Therefore, you will find this book will speak to you even if you have never played a sport or aspired to be a world class athlete.
