Historia
Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Frustrating
Revisado: 04-21-22
I dislike books that have this cliff hanger feeling for half the dang book. The book has a good story line, great narrators and has potential, but this just pure frustration. Definitely gold for those who favor this plot theme.

Historia
Artemus Black doesn't believe in fate...but even a hardened Hollywood PI can question destiny when cases turn ugly. With an assistant who mocks him relentlessly, an obese cat that loathes him, a romantic life that's deader than Elvis, money problems, booze, nicotine, and anger management issues, how much worse can it get? The answer is plenty, and Black finds himself in a web of deceit, betrayal, and murder - and bad hair days.

Repetitive Focus on Torture and Suffering
Revisado: 04-08-20
Conroy's "1901" novel was well written and entertaining, but "1942" & "1945" was just too much. I understand and have studied the horrors, atrocities and suffering of WWII. I find what happened appalling and believe it is a chapter of history that should never be forgotten. Conroy enumerates these atrocities in his books, mainly the Japanese' brutality and cruelty towards prisoners and civilians, and the Nazis' Holocaust against the Jews, as he should. But, to go on and on in excruciating detail of how and the extent is just is too much. 3/4 of the book is building upon cruelty, after suffering, after torture, too the extent you become so angry that you don't want to listen anymore. It is as if Conroy is a Sadist. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that his intentions were good, but he went too far and made the book unreadable.

A 80's SCI-FI Through Back
Revisado: 07-31-19
Usually you have to wait for 90% of the book as the antagonist proceeds to annoyingly prevail over the protagonist until the very end where the protag decides to be the bigger man and deal out a weak form of modern civic justice. By which the antag then proceeds to get a weak slap on the wrist for crimes against humanity. This book, although a bit out of a 80's action movie, parcels out an even left right of unspeakable wrong and satisfying vigilante justice. To me, this book isn't all that hard to figure out, its a good guy with a tough past, with a strong moral compass, whose a likable sarcastic jokester, with a bit of a savior complex, who has the power and ability to right wrongs and doesn't take crap form authority. All of which is set in a "LIGHT DEPTH" Sci-Fi background. Yes, he's a man's man and a bit of a chic magnet, but from all perspectives, its a male writer who is probably writing a bit from experience and...may be exaggerating male prowess, but with all seriousness what man doesn't. If you take it all in good fun, aren't a millennial, aren't a hardcore Sci-Fi fiend and don't forget the word "FICTION", you shouldn't be offended or have trouble understanding the "80's" subject matter. Forgive me if my analysis finds itself wanting. I'm not a writing critic. If I offended anyone, it was not my intention. It's just one person's opinion.

Historia
Three naïve Italian liberals, exiled in Istanbul, have bungled their instructions to kill a Polish prince - instead, they've kidnapped him and absconded to an unused farmhouse. Little do they realize that their revolutionary cell has been penetrated by their enemies, who are passing along false orders under the code name La Piuma, the Feather. It falls to Yashim to unravel all this - he's convinced that the prince is alive and that the Italians have hidden him somewhere.

Not Following Through
Revisado: 05-01-18
I have been waiting for the audio version of this book for over a year, and now when I finally get it, it's a let down. How do you have the same narrator for four books, then for the fifth, you change them. The story is still good don't get me wrong, I was just looking forward to Steven Hoye or at least another man. Having a female narrator just changes Yashim for me. Thank you "Tantor Media" for a let down. I would not recommend this book if having a different narrator than all previous books bothers you. Stick to the hard-copy.

Historia
Physician and biochemist Cate Shanahan, MD, examined diets around the world known to help people live longer, healthier lives - diets like the Mediterranean, Okinawa, and Blue Zone - and identified the four common nutritional habits, developed over millennia, that unfailingly produce strong, healthy, intelligent children and active, vital elders generation after generation. These four nutritional strategies - fresh food, fermented and sprouted foods, meat cooked on the bone, and organ meats - form the basis of the Human Diet.
