Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Historia
Nancy Kranich (played by Emmy-nominated actress Natasha Lyonne of Russian Doll and Orange Is the New Black) is a night nurse on an orbiting space station. But Nancy hates her job, is sick of space, and longs to find adventure and a safe place to smoke cigarettes that won’t blow everyone up. But when Nancy gets caught up in an outer-space conspiracy involving President Kennedy, former vice-president Richard Nixon, and an intergalactic object that could change the course of history, she gets way more adventure than she bargained for.

Historia
Piranesi lives in the House. Perhaps he always has. In his notebooks, day after day, he makes a clear and careful record of its wonders: the labyrinth of halls, the thousands upon thousands of statues, the tides that thunder up staircases, the clouds that move in slow procession through the upper halls. On Tuesdays and Fridays Piranesi sees his friend, the Other. At other times he brings tributes of food to the Dead. But mostly, he is alone.

Susanna Clarke did something outstanding.
Revisado: 04-11-21
I felt captured by The House, the colors, the sounds, the weaves, everything is depicted with artistic precision. I consider this book a masterpiece from beginning to end.
The House level design reminds me of the videogame Castlevania. It's the feature I like the most in the book, I've experienced it like it was somehow real, not fictional. If you like Steven Moffat's works and if you are fan of Doctor Who, you have to read this story and follow Susanna Clarke!
Chiwetel Ejiofor (the Narrator) did a wonderful job at reading Piranesi, I strongly suggest the experience.

Revisado: 11-29-20
I invite you all aboard the Asimov ship
we are late! we are late!
take you ticket and fly away, to the future I say.
Who needs TV when you have Asimov and a great narrator like Jon Lindstrom?
Asimov should be in the base knowledge of every human being. Because we human beings, our future, can only be stopped by ourselves, not being ready, being stubborn, not tending to space and glory.
"Come along Pond", you are not alone.

After the Final War, after the appearance of the Bug aliens and their enforced peace, Shining Smith is still alive, still doing business from the old scrapyard bequeathed to her by her father. But Shining is now something more than human. And the scrapyard is no longer just a scrapyard, but a place full of secrets. This life she has built, while empty, is predictable and safe. Until the only friend left from her previous life shows up, dead, in the back of a scrapped Tesla warplane. Clutched in her cold fingers is a note to Shining - warning her of a coming attack.

Interesting cool story and narration, plus cats!
Revisado: 07-18-20
The Story of this Sci-Fi Audiobook it's good, really good. I usually read sci-fi short stories and I really appreciate a cool idea developed in an unusual way. The setting is a junkyard as the title suggests and it is the whole desolated area of the story, the protagonist is a lonely but skilled and brave girl, and there is this strange guy Matteo. The story has a wasteland/western/horror feeling and there are many elements from different science fiction subgenres, from small "creatures" to big weapons, strange A.I. a solid fictional political background, solid characters, CATS!!! a junkyard of tech and cats! and more, in a small and well crafted little audiobook.
The narration, is feline.
It feels good, but maybe too much of it, the action parts, in my opinion, needed a faster pace. The reader has done a great job, I liked the style, and I liked the different A.I. voices, so I can say I enjoyed this work by Audible.
I would like the text of this Audiobook since I would like to read some passages on my own, and the story is really interesting. Pls provide text!

Historia
Our universe is ruled by physics, and faster-than-light travel is not possible - until the discovery of The Flow, an extradimensional field we can access at certain points in space-time that transports us to other worlds, around other stars. Humanity flows away from Earth, into space, and in time forgets our home world and creates a new empire, the Interdependency, whose ethos requires that no one human outpost can survive without the others. It's a hedge against interstellar war - and a system of control for the rulers of the empire.

Scalzi and Wheaton
Revisado: 12-10-19
The perfect couple-
John Scalzi has the ability to just sit down and write whatever he wants, he's going to do it in his style, his outstanding style. Original, smart and "uneducated", something you won't expect coming, but it's coming, and it's fun, but smart. It's always a kind of a serious parody. A modern space opera comedy. Call it as you like, Scalzi is something of his own.
Wil Wheaton, is like he was born to read Scalzi. Wil is not only the reader, is the interpreter.
No triggering warnings here, no bad feelings, no "this must be in the book because everyone is writing about it". John Scalzi is an engaging writer with his own idea on writing.

What an Audiobook should be.
Technically a jewel. Sweet Jazz (original!), New Orleans, the sounds! From the city and the environment, a reader always on point with every character in the story, and a good mystery!
It's a perfectly crafted audiobook for smart kids but enjoyable for any age.
Audiobooks can be very entertaining if mixed with music and sounds, this is a great example, good job Audible.
Hope to hear more about Viva in the future and ready to give 5 stars if the mystery cases get better. It can be a really interesting kids mystery series.

Twenty years ago Helen Franklin did something she cannot forgive herself for, and she has spent every day since barricading herself against its memory. But her sheltered life is about to change. A strange manuscript has come into her possession. It is filled with testimonies from the darkest chapters of human history, which all record sightings of a tall, silent woman in black, with unblinking eyes and bleeding feet: Melmoth, the loneliest being in the world. Condemned to walk the Earth forever, she tries to beguile the guilty and lure them away for a lifetime wandering alongside her.

In this Hugo Award-winning classic, Enoch Wallace is an ageless hermit, striding across his untended farm as he had done for over a century, still carrying the gun with which he had served in the Civil War. But what his neighbors must never know is that, inside his unchanging house, he meets with a host of unimaginable friends from the farthest stars.

For the Space Traveler in you
Revisado: 07-29-18
Sci-Fi writer like no other, Simak creates a world where Alien travelers are everyday business in the Way Station. Operated by a Human, this unique earth base, established by Aliens, is a simple waypoint in the cosmic travel system. Simak puts you in a living universe, the future, not a Dystopic universe as Dick does, not a funny crazy one as Douglas Adams. This book is a story about loneliness in a world where we are not alone....
it's About Space.
Perfect for No Man's Sky players.
Eric Michael Summerer is a GREAT reader, this is the first audiobook I followed form beginning to end (usually I outpace the reader and get bored and continue reading myself).
