Excellent introduction to Egyptian Arabic

Easy to understand and practice. I went to Egypt and got lots of props for saying a few words. No other tourists were even trying! These lessons were great. Very impressed with how they built understanding.

Great ideas, uneven narration

I really wanted to love it…

MFTF was recommended to me by a good friend, and I really wanted to love it, because of its topic. I thought the novelistic parts were promising (the description of the heat wave in India was incredible) but were ultimately lost in the extended polemic. I gave up about halfway through.

Fascinating story

Such an interesting story, and well written without technical jargon. A must-read for anyone interested in the history of science in the 20th century and for anyone interested in the (appalling) treatment of women scientists.
The narrator was only okay. The various accents were distracting, and there were a few needless mispronunciations of names. But overall it was a good listen.

Uninteresting story....poorly performed

I had high hopes for this book, based on its overall 4.9 star rating. I gave it 40 minutes of my life, and it just got worse and worse. Not insightful; lots of cliches. And the reading volume varies so much within a sentence that it's difficult to make sense of it. Sorry I wasted my credit.

A comprehensive look at the grocery business, this book is a narrative backed up with facts. Fast-paced and interesting. Read by the author, who does a good job. I’m not usually a fan of nonfiction, but this book is exceptional.

Disappointing

What disappointed you about Her Royal Spyness?
I bought this because it was an "editor's pick", but what a poorly written book! It has some cute elements, but these wear thin in about 15 minutes. And it is soooo not a spy story, by any stretch of the imagination.
Has Her Royal Spyness turned you off from other books in this genre?
I won't be listening to any other books by this writer.
Have you listened to any of Katherine Kellgren’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
The narrator does a nice job with woeful material.
