I Liked It

The other reviews are lukewarm but I liked it. It had been 2 years since I heard the first one so I went back and listened to it again before I started book 2, maybe that helped.

It was great to meet Mother Blessing and to see the Hollis character develop. I love all the character development with Maya through both books. I'm wondering if Michael is who he seems or does he have more up his sleeve? Of course we're rooting the most for Gabriel and wondering...where is their father? I like that we don't know who is going to come through the battles.

The book also gives the reader food for thought with modern technology and the way we live 'on the grid' and under surveillance...some things are a little far-fetched...but still enjoyable.

For me, The Dark River went very fast and I'm looking forward to the last one...it's hard to imagine how it will end. I agree that it is dark and it doesn't look good for the good guys..I'm hoping for some positive light to shine through at the end.

Good For All

We all know someone with ADD and this book sheds such a sweet and caring light on the entire life of the person with ADD and those that love them. I don't have ADD but suspect my son might...this book helped me to better understand and gave me the nudge to have him evaluated. It describes my adult stepson clearly and I'm going to buy him a copy in hopes that he'll get some help...this book makes you laugh & cry and informs the reader in a positive light. There are also many helpful references throughout that enlighten us on other possibilities of learning differences and disorders. There are many practical suggestions for treatment, living with ADD and with someone that has it.

Parting Is Sweet Sorrow

I'll miss Father Tim and the Mitford Crowd. I'll visit by listening again and again over the years but what a joy and comfort this series has been! I'm so sad to see it end. This last installment has been every bit as enjoyable as the ones that came before it. Jan Karon has a gift for transporting us to this lovely area, the people, simplifying Christian beliefs, feelings of gratitude for what we have and who we have to love...I could go on & on. It just feels good! John McDonough is the absolutlely perfect narrator and makes Father Tim live in our hearts! I highly reccommend the entire series (I'm a fan of unabridged and they are not yet all available unabridged through Audible)and this final installment is fantastic! And definitely ties up loose ends and we can visualize Father Tim and Cynthia living on to do good works with their faithful friends and extended family for years to come. A happy ending to a happy and fun series!

I love the Mitford series by Jan Karon, it's a sweet Christian series that makes you feel good(Although the many characters are Christians, they are not portrayed as perfect--they have all of our common foibles which are funny and very recognizable). The narrator, John McDonough does an absolutely perfect job. I have enjoyed all of the books in the series. I have read about half of them and listened to half. This is one of those books that is preferred as an audible book. This is my first review and I couldn't reccommend a series more highly. I can't wait until Audible has them all! it's the kind of book (series) you can listen to and enjoy over and over.
