Historia
Dalinar Kholin challenged the evil god Odium to a contest of champions with the future of Roshar on the line. The Knights Radiant have only ten days to prepare—and the sudden ascension of the crafty and ruthless Taravangian to take Odium’s place has thrown everything into disarray. Desperate fighting continues simultaneously worldwide—Adolin in Azir, Sigzil and Venli at the Shattered Plains, and Jasnah in Thaylenah. The former assassin, Szeth, must cleanse his homeland of Shinovar from the dark influence of the Unmade.

Before you can resolve the issues of our day, you must be able to clarify them. Terms like same-sex marriage, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gay Christian are parts of daily discourse, yet enormous controversy surrounds them. They are the stuff of news headlines and vitriolic social media posts. But they also reflect stirrings of the heart in real people with real questions and concerns.

It's hard to oversell books like this
Revisado: 11-21-24
I have loved every single book thatRosaria Butterfield has written. It is no surprise that I have loved this one as well. She is a fierce writer who knows which words cut deepest. She is a clear writer how to formulate piercing thoughts. She is an honest author who helps us towards Christ.
This book will help turn your heart in the right direction so that you may walk towards those who have same-sex attraction with open arms, clear biblical doctrine, and understanding.

Historia
In every position of power lies the potential for life-giving leadership or destructive corruption. Driven by sinful pride or opportunism, many people abuse their God-given influence, harming the ones they’re called to lead and contributing to an intense angst against authority. The answer to bad authority, however, is not no authority, but good authority—the kind that, according to Scripture, causes those under it to flourish. In this compelling guide from 9Marks, Jonathan Leeman shows that authority, done biblically, is not only good, but is essential to human flourishing.

A must read.
Revisado: 10-08-24
This book is NOT just for pastors or those in direct authority of others at work (although it certainly will lend itself to be helpful to such people).
This is also for the abused child who needs to rightly understand what God intended authority to be. This is for the person at church who feels as if they are at the bottom of the authority structure. This is for those who struggle with authority AND for those called to rightly wield it. This is for fathers and mothers...husbands and wives.
Read this book and be pointed to the God who ALWAYS uses authority rightly.

Historia
Malls, stadiums, and universities are actually liturgical structures that influence and shape our thoughts and affections. Humans - as Augustine noted - are "desiring agents", full of longings and passions; in brief, we are what we love. James K. A. Smith focuses on the themes of liturgy and desire in Desiring the Kingdom, the first book in a three-volume set on the theology of culture. He redirects our yearnings to focus on the greatest good: God.

Fantastic stuff...harder to digest.
Revisado: 09-28-24
Honestly, this book and the concepts in it are worth the read. For whatever reason though, I felt as if it was hard to make some of the thoughts tangible, and even a little harder to get through all of it.
That being said, if you are looking for a book that involves a discussion on the Kingdom of God, this should probably be one you read.

We are being called to join the revolution, and Wright insightfully encourages readers to find new purpose and clarity by taking us on an eye-opening journey through key biblical passages that promise to radically alter the work of the church and the direction of our lives.

Pastor, it’s time to turn down the noise and focus on what matters. Today’s pastoral world is packed with books, conferences, and seminars teaching you different techniques for being an all-star pastor, growing your church quickly, and changing the world. But the key to true success is much harder and much simpler. Pastors are called to be faithful, to have exemplary character, and to love Jesus. Without faithfulness, their ministry ends up harming others rather than helping them. Churches need pastors with sound doctrine and a sound life.

Come inside a jury room as one juror leads a starkly divided room to consensus. Join a young CIA officer as he recruits a reluctant foreign agent. And sit with an accomplished surgeon as he tries, and fails, to convince yet another cancer patient to opt for the less risky course of treatment. In Supercommunicators, Charles Duhigg blends deep research and his trademark storytelling skills to show how we can all learn to identify and leverage the hidden layers that lurk beneath every conversation.

Historia
Historic statements of faith—such as the Heidelberg Catechism, the Apostles’ Creed, and the Westminster Confession of Faith—have helped the Christian church articulate and adhere to God’s truth for centuries. However, many modern evangelicals reject these historic documents and the practices of catechesis, proclaiming their commitment to “no creed but the Bible.” And yet, in today’s rapidly changing culture, ancient liturgical tradition is not only biblical—it’s essential.

Historia
The "hole in our holiness" is that evangelicals don't look particularly holy, and despite the flood of gospel-centered discussions, there seems to be a greater focus on personal depravity than on the pursuit of holiness. Looking to right the balances, Kevin DeYoung presents a popular-level treatment of sanctification and union with Christ, helping readers to see what matters most - being like Jesus. He shows how one can be like Christ in being joined to Christ. The market is ready for DeYoung's timely book.
