No, I totally didn't buy this twice...
Revisado: 03-23-23
So, I bought this under the old title and with a different narrator. However, since I have listened to Mikael Naramore in the rest of J.S. Morin's series my brain just put him in my memories of this book. When I went back to re-listen to this series under the old narrator my brain rejected it. So, when I saw this re-release I picked it up just to sate my brain's OCD.
That being said, it was already fantastic, so this version is as well. Mikael is an amazing narrator and I highly recommend J.S. Morin's other series as well if you enjoyed this one.

Every year in the United States there are fifteen thousand murders, give or take a few hundred. Of those, nearly forty percent go unsolved. In this six-part audio series, Christina Walsh is determined to change that. After struggling with the loss of her father, she sets out on a journey to bring the justice that has eluded her to the families of other victims. And she starts with a particularly strange case. The murder of world-renowned violinist Leona McPherson who mysteriously disappeared years ago after a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

Amazing!
Revisado: 01-14-23
My wife listens to, and even has a true crime podcast. So this hit really close to home. I knew she'd love it. And sure enough with just the 1st 2 minutes she was hooked! I'm a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson so I pretty much knew I would like it (I don't think he's written anything I haven't enjoyed). But if you even have a passing fancy with True Crime and/or Fantasy I think you'll really enjoy this book/audio drama.

Not for everyone's taste, however not too bad
Revisado: 02-09-21
So I don't normally write reviews, however seeing a wall of negative reviews as "most helpful" as I look at 30k+ reviews and a 4.3 total I can't help but think to myself. "Hmmm how are these the most helpful when they only speak to a single point of view?"
So, if you can accept what is set up in the prologue then none of this book will seem out of place or just "bad writing" but there are 2 very important things you will have to accept.
1st that the tech jump is far faster than realistically possible, at least in my opinion
2nd that there is a really big cliché with the "villain" of the book
For me personally I can accept the 1st easy enough as suspension of disbelief. I find a enjoy a lot of books and movies people nitpick to death. I can just accept a premise as given, I don't need to have every detail explained all the time. I've noticed many people look for things to dislike instead of what they do like. I always tell my children, "Look for the joy in things, because If you look for something not to like, you will ALWAYS find it." This doesn't mean that those opinions are wrong, but it does mean that it's not a blanket statement that will apply to everyone.
As for the 2nd, I really wish he'd come up with a more creative foil. I can accept the rest and enjoy the characters just as much in this book as the 1st. But I just kept hoping there would be more to it than there was. However, even though that was not to my particular taste, it didn't change my overall opinion and that is that I really enjoyed this book.
so 5 stars because I really enjoyed it but only 3 in story because I think that particular cliché is way over used in sci-fi.

Historia
For his victims, for their families and for the investigators tasked with finding him, the senselessness and brutality of the Golden State Killer's acts were matched only by the powerlessness they felt at failing to uncover his identity. Then, on April 24, 2018, authorities arrested 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo at his home in Citrus Heights, Calif., based on DNA evidence linked to the crimes. Amazingly, it seemed, evil finally had a name. Please note: This work contains descriptions of violent crime and sexual assault and may not be suitable for all listeners.

Ending is beautiful!
Revisado: 02-19-20
This book starts out a bit rough. A lot of "he said" "she said" "he said" moments after short sentences. But once the story picks up it's really funny and worth the time. However, the best part was how good the heartfelt ending(s) after the main story completed are. I won't ruin it here but it was, at least for me, very VERY good.
