Historia
An underwater exploration that overturns myths about fishes and reveals their complex lives, from tool use to social behavior. There are more than 30,000 species of fish - more than all mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians combined. But for all their breathtaking diversity and beauty, we rarely consider how fish think, feel, and behave.

A worthwhile listen
Revisado: 02-14-24
What a Fish Knows is an interesting books packed full of unusual fish facts. It's a must listen for all aquarium enthusiasts. My biggest complaints are the mispronounciation of fish, such as "Corydora" and the incorrect use of "poisonous" instead of "venomous". Overall, it is a minor distraction from the book and I don't regret buying it.

Historia
From best-selling social commentator and cultural historian Barbara Ehrenreich comes this fascinating exploration of one of humanity's oldest traditions: the celebration of communal joy, historically expressed in ecstatic revels of feasting, costuming, and dancing. Ehrenreich uncovers the origins of communal celebration in human biology and culture, showing that such mass festivities have been indigenous to the West since the ancient Greeks.

Has some racial slurs in it, but entirely in the context of representing how oppressors spoke to enslaved people so be mindful of listening to the book near children. Overall the book is fantastic and I learned a lot.

Lucidly and beautifully written, Peace Is Every Step contains commentaries, meditations, personal anecdotes, and stories from Nhat Hanh's experiences as a peace activist, teacher, and community leader. It begins where the listener already is - in the kitchen, office, driving a car, walking - and shows how deep meditative presence is available now.

Author Has A Poor Understanding Of Mental Illness
Revisado: 01-24-21
I wanted to like the book, I really did but the author has a poor understanding of mental illness. I couldn't believe they dismissed doctors prescribing medications for those who need it and dismissing the wonderful work therapist do. Breathwork and a positive attitude can do great things for a person, but they don't fix a chemical imbalance in the brain.
The narrator has a soothing voice with an okay pace.
The author also often mentions religion and simple thinking like not questioning how the world is. Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to self improvement and you certainly won't find knowledge in this book.

An excellent book except...
Revisado: 01-15-21
I loved the book except the woo stuff like energy healing, etc. I feel like not mentioning the placebo effect they have encourages listeners to belive in pseudoscience. The great thing about placebo effects is they work whether we're aware of it being a placebo or not so it would have done no harm mentioning it.

A Must Listen For Women
Revisado: 12-16-20
This book is filled with heavy subjects but is written in an informal and sometimes a comically relatable way. As the name implies, it's filled with curse words so I don't recommend listening to it if you're sensitive to that. I plan on listening to more of "Dr. Faith's" books.

Well worth the money!

This is a book I will listen to time and time again I'm sure; I'm already a half hour into the second time listening to it. If there isn't a new podcast out, this book is my choice to listen to in the background while I clean and minimize.
