I really enjoyed the story and the characters, but I found the narrator's accent for Bones distractingly weird. At one point in the book it is explained that his accent comes from both an Australian and British mix, but I felt as though that tidbit was tossed in there merely to explain the narrator's inability to perform a strong, solid dialect. I'm hoping it gets better the further I get into the series.
As for the story, I thought it was a fun, enjoyable book and I like the authors sense of humor. I was pretty taken aback when Bones and Cat got together so quickly, wrongly assuming it would take a couple books for that to happen. The author's solution for what happens when vampire's cry or otherwise... emit fluids... is somehow the most disturbing solution of that issue that I've ever come across. Pink? I don't know why but somehow just straight blood is less disgusting.
Really hoping to continue enjoying this series and seeing more developments in the characters.

It's not often that James Patterson book catches me off guard, but this one did and I really liked it!

I had high hopes seeing as it's a Jim Butcher book, but I didn't care for this as much as I hoped to. It was a good story, but I had a hard time paying attention to it. Lots of characters and locations, jumping around a lot in the beginning. I think it's partly because I listened in 20 to 30 minute bursts. I might have liked it more had I listened at length. I love this narrator, she was great. But I cannot STAND the trumpet sound between sections. And I'm guessing sections, it seemed kind of random. But it was horrible. Maddening, really. It was very jarring in the middle of a story.

Very sloooow. A lot of analysis, not much to keep the reader interested. Not one of my favorites.

I absolutely can't stand this narrator. It ruins the book. ESPECIALLY her voice for Peabody. It's so annoying it's hard to focus on the story.

I love Notaro!

She is such a funny author. Just separate yourself from the world for a while and enjoy this book. Yes, it's silly and tongue in cheek, but that's part of the charm. Notaro can always make me laugh. The "Idiot Girls" books will make you snort out-loud with laughter!
