Historia
1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention. That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

it’s hard to pay attention to the story when he sounds like an over dramatic Captain Kirk.

Historia
Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes.

I felt sorry for her
Revisado: 12-20-24
After reading the first two books I was looking forward to another good one. Through this book I feel that I better understand Ari, her reasoning, her values, her thinking. It reminds me how we are too often stay in the "thick of thin things." The character's mood brightens then falls into a funk based on the inconsequential. Her behaviors expose severe OCD with no example to use as a foil for productive development. While the author is obviously talented I felt as though I was being led through a labyrinth built for the express purpose of occupying my time with trivial and, in the end, worthless things. I'll never get this time back.

Great descriptive language.
Revisado: 06-12-24
Loved the book. One point of distraction was the reader's mispronunciation of a character's name from the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna. The reader was persistent in saying it, "Arunja". He may have simply fallen victim to an unfortunate typo and an editor too unfamiliar with the Hindu sacred text to recognize the error.

Great material, author reads poorly
Revisado: 01-13-22
Nothing against Brandon Tatum personally but he should have hired a professional reader. His reading cadence and sentence emphasis are mis-timed and wrong. Classic mistakes of a typical middle schooler. I can't quite finish the book for the ear pain it causes. I've heard him speak extemporaneously and all is well. But his reading? Sorry, can't take it.

Nice story, annoying reader
Revisado: 07-11-21
If you can get past the nasality and persistent vocal fry of the reader, the story is interesting enough. I admit I stopped listening several times to get relief from those horrible habits. Other than that, I enjoyed the story.

So many errors in word use
Revisado: 05-29-21
At times I wondered if this was a translation from another language, the word use was so off. Surely a competent editor would have caught these many errors in all 3 books. I struggled to get through them.

Dion Graham is irritating
Revisado: 03-24-21
Dion has an annoying habit of a small sharp inhalation after many phrases and sentences. He's doesn't always do it, which proves he can read normally. He may not even realize he's doing it but it's still distracting. A good reader doesn't distract from the story.
