Basically everything that he doesn't like is destroying the world. Pop music, the internet, parents with different parenting styles, cell phones, other people's kids, etc.

it's like a bunch of comedy writers said "hey, let's each make up the most ridiculous story about Andy Richter we can think of and publish them".

thus audiobook is like a bad snl sketch that's only audible and lasts for hours.

Very interesting to hear the personal conversations of a man most known for his portrayal of comedic caricature of himself. It's an insight into what it would be like to have Groucho Marx for a father. I wonder if the way he talked in these letters were specific to him or if all parents born in the late 1800s spoke to their kids the same way. with the straight forward "hey, you can come up with something more interesting to write me about" and the " I don't know why I keep writing these letters, I have not heard back from.you in three weeks" type statements.

glad I listened to this book. PS...it really felt like Groucho reading it too. solid Groucho Marx impression.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to listen to somebody ask you "have you ever?" or "DId you know?" over and over again for over 4 hours?

I came here seeking knowledge primarily about the early settlers and historical events about Michigan that most don't know. instead I get a bunch of "Did you know that Eminem grew up in Detroit, Michigan?", "Did you know thar Burt Reynolds once lied about not being from Michigan?" And "have you ever wondered which major pizza chain is from Michigan?"

I grew up in Michigan. This book seems more for like a 10 year old from Arkansas.

There is actually some good stuff to learn about the brain in this book if you can get past the poserish and constant vulgar language being used throughout the book.

I could not continue to listen because the author took every opportunity to refer to everything as "shit" and say things like "word!" And "Imma jet!". Reminds me of two things: a 12 year old trying to look quirky in a class project and Brian Griffin trying to teach Shakespeare to the inner city youth on Family Guy.

There have been guys that made these sort of books before. Like Mark Manson with his "Subtle art of not giving a f*ck". The language in those books is used just sparingly enough to make you think "wow, that was pretty straight forward and simple!" instead of "holy hell, why are you cussing every 5 seconds like you're pissed off?"

I could not stop cringing.

Here's a guy that basically listened to too much Rage Against The Machine and turned into a Muslim extremist because he didn't like people telling him what to do and what not to do.

I think it was funny how he sounded like a hip hop revolutionary in the beginning, but then he traveled overseas and developed this middle eastern accent and spoke as if English was his second language.

There were several warnings to him that he was on the wrong path, but like said before, he didn't take those as warnings, he took that as oppression forcing him even farther the other direction. Until he finally got what he wanted...which was for the USA to go all up in his ass apparently.

I just hope people who listen to this all understand that the author is not a real doctor and this advice does not come from a professional. the book is full of common misconceptions, falsehoods, and sketchy advice.

It was rather entertaining, however, and there are a few concepts discussed that I may actually incorporate into my life.

I love Atomic Habits by James Clear. This fellow clearly does as well (no pun intended). Most of this book's message is in direct reference to James Clear. I did indeed find some extra wisdom in this book. which is why I read books of similar nature, to add to my knowledge of the subject. I do say it's worth a listen.
