Written so clearly and with such passion! if he wrote this book with the aim to inspire, he has accomplished that. If you are a nature lover or a conservationist at any level this is a must read. Highly recommend!

Historia
The “mountain men” were the hunters and trappers who fiercely strode the Rocky Mountains in the early to mid-1800s. They braved the elements in search of the skins of beavers and other wild animals, to sell or barter for goods. The lifestyle of the mountain men could be harsh, existing as they did among animals, and spending most of their days and nights living and camping out in the great unexplored wilds of the Rockies.

Interesting and creative account of the early American trapper

Interesting narrative, hard to get into at first but held me the rest of the way after I got a feel for how the book was written. It’s different in that respect. Very detailed and you catch yourself following along on a current map to get a visual. Recommend

Historia
Steven Rinella grew up in Twin Lake, Michigan, the son of a hunter who taught his three sons to love the natural world the way he did. As a child, Rinella devoured stories of the American wilderness, especially the exploits of his hero, Daniel Boone. He began fishing at the age of three and shot his first squirrel at eight and his first deer at 13. He chose the colleges he went to by their proximity to good hunting ground, and he experimented with living solely off wild meat. As an adult, he feeds his family from the food he hunts.

Amazing!
Revisado: 02-05-21
Such a great story teller! Rinella is a great asset to our hunting culture and he’s approach is that of all teachable moments. Never afraid of being very transparent with his mistakes he offers his readers a great sense of humanity. He gives me a great sense of pride as a hunter and reassurance that my lifestyle is worth the struggles that often accompany it. Moral vs. Law, Man vs. Beast and Nature vs. Nurture. Great read! Thank you Steve. SeanD - Ward, NY

I am not one who will sit down and read a book. I don't have the attention span for it, and maybe the imagination. For some magical reason my mother got me this book for my birthday when I was about 16. I don't know why I picked it up and started reading it. All previous attempts by my mother failed. But as soon as I got past chapter one I was obsessed. Couldn't put it down. Read it all in 2 days. A love for reading followed. It's been about 15 years since I read this book and I travel a lot for a living. I saw this book as a suggested title for a audio book and I thought, "I should read that again!" And as a father now - it definitely strikes a different cord. Great book!!! Will listen/read it again soon....
