Historia
In March 1944, as the Nazis occupied Paris, the French Police and Fire Brigade were called to investigate a vile-smelling black smoke that had been pouring from the chimney of 21 Rue Le Sueur for days. The thick black smoke was rising from a series of wood-burning stoves throughout the property that were stocked with human remains. The homeowner was Dr. Marcel Petiot, an admired and charismatic physician. When questioned, Dr. Petiot claimed that he was a part of the Resistance and the bodies they discovered belonged to Nazi collaborators that he killed for the cause.

Historia
In 1850, following a divorce and a number of encounters with the law, Boone Helm headed "Out West" to chase the Californian Gold Rush with his cousin. When his cousin pulled out at the last minute, Helm was incensed, and brutally stabbed him to death. Helm was detained in an asylum for the mentally disturbed but managed to escape. Helm continued his journey west with renewed vigour, where he opportunistically killed and consumed the flesh of adversaries and travelling companions, earning him the nickname "The Kentucky Cannibal"....

The Kentucky Cannibal

Boone Helm was a very interesting killer to learn about. The descriptions of the killings are very detailed and gory, but I feel that they needed to be to get the full picture of just how savage Boone was. I can't say this is a book that all True Crime fans would love, but if you are not the squeamish type, it is a very interesting and enjoyable book.

Historia
In 1902, at the age of 11, Carl Panzram broke into a neighbour’s home and stole some apples, a pie, and a revolver...During his two-year detention, Carl was repeatedly beaten, humiliated, and raped by the school staff...Kill 'Em All is a chilling and gripping account of one of the most brutal and gruesome true crime stories in American history. Ryan Green’s riveting narrative draws the listener into the real-live horror experienced by the victims and has all the elements of a classic thriller.

I had never heard of Carl Panzram before this book. He was a horrible person. The story was hard to listen to at times, but it was very well written and wonderfully narrated.

Historia
In July 1965, teenagers Sylvia and Jenny Likens were left in the temporary care of Gertrude Baniszewski, a middle-aged single mother, and her seven children. The Baniszewski household was overrun with children. There were few rules and ample freedom. Sadly, the environment created a dangerous hierarchy of social Darwinism where the strong preyed on the weak. What transpired in the following three months was both riveting and chilling.

Torture Mom
Revisado: 06-16-20
Sylvia Likens' story gets me every time I hear about it! How so many people could take part in hurting her and even more failed to help her, I truly will never understand it. I do think Ryan Green used a little bit of creative license when he wrote the story, but I don't believe it was anything major and it helped to make us feel what Sylvia, and to a lesser extent Jenny, were dealing with daily, what they meant have been thinking, etc.
The details about Gertrude Baniszewski’s own childhood were fascinating. I do wish the book had gone into more details about the trails after Sylvia was killed. But all and all it was a very good true crime book that I would recommend to others.

Historia
Charles Whitman, Jr. was born and raised with his two younger brothers in a nice neighborhood in the suburbs of Lake Worth, Florida. From the outside, the Whitmans appeared to be living the American dream but within the household, lay a much darker reality. Charles Whitman, Sr. made sure his family wanted for nothing, and in return, he demanded perfection. Lethargy or failure were unacceptable and resulted in violence.

This may be Ryan Green's best book yet...
Revisado: 05-19-20
I really enjoyed The Texas Tower Sniper. It was one of those books that when I had to hit pause and walk away, I would instantly start planning when I could listen to more, I have read other Ryan Green books, but this was my favorite so far!
