Historia
August 1816. England is in the grip of what will become known as the Year Without a Summer. Facing the twin crises of a harvest-destroying volcanic winter and the economic disruption caused by the end of the Napoleonic Wars, the British monarchy finds itself haunted by the looming threat of bloody riots not seen since the earliest days of the French Revolution. Amidst the turmoil, a dead man is found hanging upside down by one leg in an abandoned chapel, his hands tied behind his back. The pose eerily echoes the image depicted on a tarot card known as Le Pendu, the Hanged Man.

Where was the exhilaration in this one?
Revisado: 04-23-25
The continuing saga of Sebastian St. Cyr, Lord Devlin and his wife Hero. I always look forward to an exhilarating story each time I pick up a book in this series. I absolutely love the characters, the time period and the bits of history worked I to the story. This one though, felt less exciting than the previous books. It felt watered down to me. I'm not saying the story was not good, just that the level of excitement I usually feel was not there. We meet little Miss Guinevere, Sebastian's new baby daughter and of course Hero gets to shot someone. I think the underlying problem I had with this one was getting used to a new narrator. So used to Davina Porter narrating, that switching to a male narrator may have thrown me off. Tom Kiteley does a fair job but it will be awhile before I settle into his style. Overall this was a good book, I loved the underlying storyline, especially the historical connections. A few curves there near the end , making it a great addition to the series.

Historia
On a mission to rescue his runaway sister from the lure of flowery compliments and a useless lot of satin-clad scalawags disguised by their snooty titles, Ranulf MacLawry, Marquis of Glengask, has roared into British society like a storm across the Highlands. But he's about to find out that satin has its appeal, especially when it covers the curves of Miss Lady Charlotte Hanover-whose tongue is as sharp as her skin is soft.

Loved it!!
Revisado: 04-02-25
I always enjoy a book that contains a highlander's love story. This was a really good one. Lady Charlotte and Ranulf were perfect for each other. Can't wait to see how they get along throughout the series, now that they've declared their love for each other very publicly.

She said yes to Morelli. She said yes to Ranger. Now Stephanie Plum has two fiancés and no idea what to do about it. But the way things are going, she might not live long enough to marry anyone. While Stephanie stalls for time, she buries herself in her work as a bounty hunter, tracking down an unusually varied assortment of fugitives from justice. There’s Eugene Fleck, a seemingly sweet online influencer who might also be YouTube star Robin Hoodie, masked hero to the homeless, who hijacks delivery trucks and distributes their contents to the needy.

Dang! My choice loss
Revisado: 03-29-25
I really enjoyed this one. It was decision time for Stephanie in this one and my man Ranger loss. Dang, dang, dang!! Overall it was an enjoyable read. I really liked this one. Lula, Connie and the rest of the gang were great, except I wanted a bit more excitement from Grandma Mazer.

Great cast

A very good adaptation of the book, with a great cast portraying the characters. Peter Dinklage was magic in the role of Poirot.

Weasels!!
Revisado: 02-22-25
This one started out a little slow and on the boring side, for me. It eventually picked up when the weasels came into play. Kind of a dull subject matter, bridge building, to base a lot of the conversations on. The most exciting thing about the book was Peregrine getting sent down from Eton, and the weasels going out on reconnaissance. I enjoyed the book just because of the children who play a major part in the story. As for the rest of the cast, even Charlotte and Wrexford, it was just "meh" for me this time around. With the hints dropped, the next book could possibly be much better. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Historia
His passport read Giovanni Rossi. But decades ago, during the Urban Wars, he was part of a small, secret organization called The Twelve. Responding to an urgent summons from an old compatriot, he landed in New York and eased into the waiting car. And died within minutes… Lieutenant Eve Dallas finds the Rossi case frustrating. She’s got an elderly victim who’d just arrived from Rome; a widow who knows nothing about why he’d left; an as-yet unidentifiable weapon; and zero results on facial recognition.

Wow!!
Revisado: 02-19-25
What a read! This has to be one of Robb's all-time best. It grabs you from the very first chapter and doesn't let go. I had to force myself to read it slowly, spreading it out and not gobbling it up in one sitting. Everyone was in this one except Mavis, Leonardo, Kyung Beaverton, and Mr. Mira. The squad came through once again and had their LT's back. Eve's mind worked brilliantly, figuring out the killers game almost from the beginning. Loved the interaction between Eve and Summerset in this one. A brilliant storyline, expertly told. Robb is a master with her dialogue and insights into the workings of relationships. This one is a must read for all "In Death" fans.

typical, but good.
Revisado: 02-18-25
This was a fairly good addition to the series. Started out on the boring side, but then picked up around chapter 8. I almost gave up on the story. Silke and Benedik were very good together. There was no whinyness on Silkies part as it has been in the past with other human lifemates. I loved the way Benedict supported and admired her. I listened to this book on Audible and I still have not adjusted to the new narrator. His narration did not add any real excitement as past narrators have. I hope he gets into the groove and does a better job with the next book, especially since it "might" be set in the Carpathian mountains and involve the Prince.

Unfortunately, a bit boring
Revisado: 01-21-25
I was really looking forward to Clarissa's story, but it turned out to be not as exciting as I had hoped it would be. It didn't grab hold and capture my attention. In fact it was more on the boring side. I still enjoyed the story, but was a bit let down. It was an interesting storyline but in my opinion was written a bit too much on the soft side. I had expected a few fists to fly, but alas, no. Learning about Matthew and Clarissa's backstories was the better part of the book. To me it was a lovely and sweet story, but slightly boring unfortunately.

Simply wonderful
Revisado: 01-03-25
I really, really liked this story. Ms. Balogh has created a marvelous mix of two families, bound together by unselfish love and family secrets. This is Ben's story and one well worth telling. Ben not only finds out about his mother's past but finds love with the one person he knew he could never dare to imagine as his own. The characters are a delight, especially Ben's little daughter Joy. The Ware and Arden families blend well together. This is only the third book in the series and I hope there will be many more to come. Ms. Balogh never disappoints and I highly recommend this one.
