Tour Guide
Revisado: 03-16-24
Of the two Mindy Starnes Clark books I've listened to, Whispers of the Bayou (excellant book) was a one hit wonder. This book, Under the Cajun Moon must have been written to fulfill a quota and required a set number of words. I don't care to be taken on a tour, stick to the story. If this story's goal was to start in Baton Rouge to destination New Orleans with stops in New York, Chicago and Houston along the way, then this story was a success. Narration was mundane and monotonous at best. There are few good instances where I thought the book might take off on a suspence thriller like the picture on the wall of the restaraunt, but that soon failed too. Maybe I'll listen to a couple more of Mindy's books hoping to get the same great results that Whispers of the Bayou delivered. If these books deliver too, I'll listen to even more. I know Mindy can do it. Please write some more like Whispers of the Bayou and don't go low bid on a narrator.

Historia
Swept away from Louisiana bayou country as a child, Miranda Miller is a woman without a past. She has a husband and child of her own and a fulfilling job in a Manhattan museum, but she also has questions - about the tragedy that cut her off from family and caused her to be sent away and about those first five years of her life, which were erased from her memory entirely. Summoned to the bedside of Willy Pedreaux, the old caretaker of her grandparents' antebellum estate, Miranda goes back to Louisiana at last, hoping to learn the truths of her past and receive her rightful inheritance.

Edge of your seat thriller.

A story can actually be told without cuss words. Reminded me somewhat of a James Lee Burke story without the cursing and raunchiness.

When Angela met Jason Powell while catering a dinner party in East Hampton, she assumed their romance would be a short-lived fling, like so many relationships between locals and summer visitors. To her surprise, Jason, a brilliant economics professor at NYU, had other plans, and they married the following summer. For Angela, the marriage turned out to be a chance to reboot her life. She and her son were finally able to move out of her mother's home to Manhattan, where no one knew about her tragic past.

OK Story but Boring Narration
Revisado: 12-25-21
Story was ok. Needs to be shorter. Too much profaity. Narration was about as interesting as watching paint dry.
