enjoyable but...
Revisado: 01-10-25
I find myself both enjoying and disliking this series. I realy like the scavenging, their ability to use and create things from items they find, stocking up when they encounter an abandoned home, etc. I like when they run into zombies and get to taking them out one by one, though the thought that just about all of the characters (mostly teens) are all ace shooters and get head-shots from distance seems a bit far fetched, I still enjoy the story. I dislike the sex talk, while not graphic it seems like all the girls are horny and vulgar for this teenage boy genius and just HAVE to have his baby. Teens, in a zombie apocalypse, seems like they should be thinking about something other than getting pregnant.. anyway I roll my eyes and move on. Overall the story is fun, unbelievable but in a fun way so I will keep on with the series.

I liked this season though, less than the first one. One of my favorite parts is David Gyasi, he has such a great voice and does the charachter Rook so well. Had a little more sucking face sounds, which i don't like but the story is still good. The end left on a cliffhanger so will definitely be checking out the third season.

Historia
From executive producers of The Walking Dead and Travis Beacham, the writer of Pacific Rim, comes a heart-stopping Audible Original featuring a brilliant British cast. It’s the near future and seven years since a comet hit the earth and blotted out the sun. The world is a dark, frozen landscape. And then, beastly creatures emerge and take over. A story of apocalypse, horror, and adventure, Impact Winter is a wholly original new saga created just for Audible with immersive 3D audio that dares you to pop in your earbuds and listen in the dark.

audibly graphic and wonderful
Revisado: 12-22-24
I have been hesitant about listening to a full cast series, as I find I get easily distracted with annoying voices, music or misc sounds in my audio books. I decided to give it a try since it was part of my subscription..
Oh my it was great! The background music made it more intense and the actors were outstanding. It was like a movie in my head and I was on the edge of my seat throughout. Great vampire story with a new twist from all the rest. I can't say enough how great the actors were.
**Warning** it is audibly graphic. Violent scenes are so clear you can see the gore with your ears. It's chilling. So, if you are squeamish, be careful but I still urge you to give it a try.

Narration saved this book
Revisado: 12-19-24
I was equal parts entertained and irritated at this first story. I enjoy zombie books so thought I'd give it a try. 1st paragraph in I almost stopped reading as I was quite disgusted at the sexual violence toward a child. Completely unnecessary in my opinion and added nothing to the overall story. I am glad I stuck with it until the end, though too much teenager sex thoughts and unrealistic sex lives of said teens in a zombie apocalypse. I enjoyed the rest of the book, good zombie fights, scavenging (which I really enjoy) and trying to live off-grid. Just rolling my eyes with every gross thought that goes through the main character's head.
Narration was great as usual, love Graham Halstead's books. Probably the only reason I kept with it through the end.
Will give the next book a chance.

pretty good
Revisado: 12-19-24
Overall pretty good story. There were some details that came up towards the end of the series that didn't make a lot of sense for a zombie apocalypse, for instance after almost a month running from zombies, murderers, falling into rivers etc, out of nowhere he finally loses his glasses?! Where did those come from and how the heck did they stay on until now? Bits like that where I assume it was too"button up" the final and it was the easiest way to do it. I would have liked a little more realistic details and less rushed ending. My two other issues, though not huge, too much god towards the end (complete preference) and everyone they meet is an enemy? I know it makes for an entertaining story but I'd like to think some good people still exist and not everyone you run into would be a sadistic murdering group.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and the characters, the author did a good job painting a picture of who they are and such to core values.
Graham Halstead was as usual great at narration. I enjoy all the stories he does and will continue looking for his books to listen to.
Worth a shot of you like zombie and apocalypse books.

Historia
It's been three long years since Deadbreak. That's what everyone's calling it - the day the dead rose. Every day since then, Jeremiah Reid has had one goal: to make his way back to his daughter. With his four-legged companion, Joe, Jeremiah has to travel a lawless wasteland teeming with zombies, bandits, and worse, like people who put anchovies on pizza (you know who you are). It's a new world out there, and no one is safe. People are weary, cities are in ruin, supplies are scarce, and brains are on the menu.

Great story and narration was outstanding
Revisado: 11-27-24
I am fairly new to the zombie genre, I usually gravitate to sci-fi or more likely apocalypse type situations heavy on the emp, nukes, prepping, and bunkers. This book blew me away, zombies were there but not at every turn and focused more on scavenging and surviving, which I enjoy.
Deep story, it was not, although for me it was thoroughly entertaining all the same. The author did a great job at giving the characters some depth and even though it is a story about zombies, murder and all around heartache and pain, he was also able to add in some wonderful humor. I was never bored and really hated going to bed.
James Fouhey narrated this so beautifully, voices and accents were great and the jokes he hit perfectly. I really enjoyed his reading and will be looking for additional books he has narrated to try out.
I sincerely hope Jorge Sanchez writes some more books because this book was great for a binge. Absolutely worth a listen.

Historia
Following the events in Network Effect, the Barish-Estranza corporation has sent rescue ships to a newly colonized planet in peril, as well as additional SecUnits. But if there's an ethical corporation out there, Murderbot has yet to find it, and if Barish-Estranza can't have the planet, they're sure as hell not leaving without something. If that something just happens to be an entire colony of humans, well, a free workforce is a decent runner-up prize. But there's something wrong with Murderbot; it isn't running within normal operational parameters.

I love this series. I enjoy murderbot's personality and of hand comments. I think Kevin R Free did a great job with the expressions and voices throughout the 7 books and he really brought them to life. I really hope Martha Wells writes another because I am excited to find out where murderbot and ART go next.

Revisado: 01-05-24
Loved the book when I read it, loved it to listen to. Ray Porter does a wonderful job, he really brings the characters to life. Both times reading and listening I'm left missing the characters, I wish it would never end. Love love love!
