The story was pleasant enough I felt the characters to be thin. My issue is primarily with quick solutions to challenges. Large life decisions felt over simplified with easy answers, no fleshed out resolution, no personal conflict and decisions were “right there”. Everything evolved neatly in an overly tidy story. - I didn’t really care deeply about the characters from this version. No strife without an easy resolution no emotional conflict like Jane experienced in the original. The narrators light jocular cadence added to the simple light story. Good voice changing from character to character but found it hard to listen to at times for this particular story.
Easy light read. Satisfying ending.

I disliked the focus on sex when author should have explained his story more just ended no idea what happened to shlara or any of his old friends just ends with his daughter I shoulda stopped at book one but it never really got better

Second book I have read by this author. I thought I would try one more even though the first was “meh” as the reviews were generally favorable. The story just drags along with unlikely plot. I just wanted to get through it - yes there was a predictable twist all tied up with an unbelievable plot shaped bow. I felt no connection to characters. Same old tropes, tingling feelings, dumb good looking characters making one bad choice after another. Whole story was dark, dismal and left zero reflection afterward. Ugh. Guess this author is not for me.

the male reader is the most bland boring reader I've ever heard on here I've heard better emotional inflection from an AI reading. female did much better job of voicing characters. story is weirdly placed and has poor diction and the random pervyness really makes me cringe. This belongs in some reddit short story series or it would if it was better written. go read spellmonger for a good fantasy their are a lot better Isekai out there.

not worth the payoff too fast pace rushed ending

was finally getting into series at book two had characters developed somewhat with more room to explore with Emily and mat but then the series pulls a game of thrones season 8 and just wraps up whole story losing its momentum and leaving me unsatisfied

Dragged on what a slog of ridiculous angst

Didn’t care for the story. Unbelievable amount of trauma and drama occurring in first 5 days accelerated friendships lack of character development forced myself to finish. Not interested enough to continue series.

just finished this some solid length and interesting fantasy location can't wait for next installment only negative is that the main character and be really really dumb/self destructive to the point u just think he is crazy like dude wait one day it's like refusing to prep for test to watch a show that just aired when the test decides your existence
