The Yellowstone super-eruption has put an end to modern civilization. As cities and countries continue to fall, the colony of Rivendell in the alternate Earth known as Outland looks more and more like the only real hope for humanity. Typical anti-American woke agenda being pushed throughout this book
Revisado: 03-09-25
I love the first book in the series very interesting other than a blatant ripoff from Stargate. The second book took a turn politically and so much of the book was supporting global warming evolution and anti-capitalism with woke agenda, threaded throughout. You could tell this Reiter is Canadian and you could tell he despises America. So if you’d like this, then this would be a book for you if you’re like 80% of the Americans, this would not be a book you would have an interest in. This will be the last book I ever read by this author because my time is much more valuable than to try to be indoctrinated while reading I just want to be entertained.

Historia
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

Enjoy this book very much. It did not disappoint. I was looking for something with a mixture of science fiction and action and it hit the Mark. I also learned quite a bit about volcanic eruptions.

Sneaky Woke Agenda hidden in a decent historical mystery.
Revisado: 01-29-25
The real story was interesting, but five hours into it the sneaky woke agenda starts coming in to play. First, the main character is a lesbian, and it goes down here from there. Not opposed to this kind of book for people that live that lifestyle but please label these as a pro LGBT book. Don’t trick me into thinking it’s a great historical mystery. When really you’re pushing a separate agenda.

Historia
My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

A bit of a let down
Revisado: 01-26-24
I’ve read/listen to all Ishmael Jones books. Big fan of the overall mystery of Ishmael Jones, and the sprinkling of supernatural throughout the series. This particular book left me feeling a little let down. Hard to explain without spoiling it. If you’ve made it this far series, you need to read it. If you’re looking for a fun, supernatural mystery, the previous book in the series is one of the best of the series.

Historia
Ishmael Jones is someone who can't afford to be noticed, someone who lives under the radar, who drives on the dark side of the road. He's employed to search out secrets, investigate mysteries and shine a light in dark places. Invited by his employer, the enigmatic Colonel, to join him and his family for Christmas, Ishmael arrives at the grand but isolated Belcourt Manor in the midst of a blizzard to find that the Colonel has mysteriously disappeared. As he questions his fellow guests, Ishmael concludes that at least one of them - not least Ishmael himself - is harboring a dangerous secret.

Adventurous, fun and original
Revisado: 10-27-23
The thing I like the most about this book was the originality. It was not your same old run-of-the-mill, monster book. It had adventure, levity, mystery and complexity of characters that made for an interesting backstory. Also, would like to mention the reader, I found this series because I was listening to another series that Gildart Jackson had read in Audible. I liked his skill level so much I looked for other books he had read. He has a great command of inflection and voice control that is unmatched by most readers. I have over 800 books I have listen to in Audible. The reader will make or break a book for me. Hope you read this hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
