I don’t know why nearly every character in this book has to use the “f” word all the time. I personally know a lot of people and only one of them uses it fairly regularly. An otherwise good story but the language detracts from it…no thanks

I actually really liked the story however, throwing in F*** throughout the dialogue was unnecessary and a distraction. Would read the next in the series if it wasn’t for that.

I gave this a try since someone had said it was a good “wholesome” book. I guess our views on the meaning of that word are much different. Very disappointing.

Drama and homosexuality more than dragons/fantasy

I just couldn’t finish this and am returning. I was looking for a good fantasy and dragons story. I had to restart 4 times before proceeding-didn’t capture my attention at first. Started to be a bit better, although hard to follow characters. Ended up being too much drama and too much focus on homosexuality. Not much action...Very disappointing...

Although the story was a bit predictable, it was pretty good. I just couldn’t get past the hero sounding like an old man. The narrators voice for him was unpleasant and a distraction. He supposed to be 27 years old- not 87

Lady Harriett is shallow and spoiled as far as I can see. I expected her to grow up at some point and realize she was being a brat. Her brother even started the conversation but then backed off. The lieutenant had to reinvent himself in order for the relationship to work. I’m not really sure why he was even attracted to Harriett..

I appreciate reviews that indicate how "clean" a book is, so read through them, looking for clues. Someone said if a reader likes Georgette Heyer, that they would like Flowers from the Storm. This book does not rate the same cleanliness as Heyer's books. There are definitely sex scenes - not the hot steamy type, but still described in more detail than I care for.

Fun storyline- just not for me....

Couldn't get past the constant, unnecessary offensive language. It's really too bad because I like the story and would have liked to finish it.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The story line might have been okay if I could listen to the reader. Just grated on me... -Over-enunciation with voice inflections in the wrong places - drawn out - odd. Just all wrong. Totally drove me crazy.

Won't be reading any more of the series - different reader? Maybe...
