such a cozy story
Revisado: 06-21-23
I love this story so far....... except for one thing- Chloe is utterly intolerable. Samantha seems to overlook all of it. the worst is her unwillingness to even say thank you. I can't imagine anyone in real life accepting that treatment. I keep waiting for Samantha to call her out on it.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

the book is well narrated, and the story is interesting. there is a very unexpected twist but, it won't leave you with a happy feeling, and no spoilers, but harm comes to children.

terrible ending
Revisado: 06-02-22
first of all it made zero sense that the mother was so worried about her daughter, but then when the daughter finally was ready to confide, the mom brushed it off. wouldn't she have a deep conversation to get to the root of the problem? the ending was terrible, like, "so what happens?" The narration was good. I wouldn't recommend this book based on the terrible ending.

Historia
Lissie is a nurse in a gritty, hectic London neighborhood. Always terribly competent and good at keeping it all together, she’s been suffering quietly with PTSD after helping to save the victim of a shocking crime. Her supervisor quietly arranges for Lissie to spend a few months doing a much less demanding job in the little town of Kirrinfeif in Scottish Highlands, hoping that the change of scenery will help her heal. Lissie will be swapping places with Cormack, an Army veteran who’s Kirrinfeif’s easygoing nurse/paramedic/all-purpose medical man.

Double Standards Regarding CONSENT.
Revisado: 04-14-22
The narration is wonderful. Beyond that the book is **fine**, nothing amazing, but not terrible. It's something to have on in the background. However, I was preparing dinner and a part in the book came on saying a female nurse took a photo and posted to her social media of her date's butt while he was sleeping, without permission. Can you imagine if it were gender reversed? But the author played it off as something funny and no big deal. I'm very disappointed in this, as her other books are fairly charming, this was in poor taste and judgment.
