Historia
The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

There he invented the mini-motor, the six-volt generator, and the tiny Congreve clock. Then a chain of events sweeps him into deep waters and leads him to his happiest discovery yet.

The next book in the perennially adored No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series sees Precious Ramotswe calling upon all her maternal instincts when she's faced with a two-ton case. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but can Mma. Ramotswe and the rest of the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency come together to raise a pipsqueak pachyderm? We may find out in this novel. We may not. Who can say?

Bring back Lisette
Revisado: 08-09-21
This review is for the audio only. I enjoyed the storyline, but it was painful (literally) to listen to. For general narration, the narrator is fine, but several of her character voices are over the top. The new narrator uses a harsh, nasal, exaggerated voice for some of the characters’ dialogue. These characters seem to lose their humanity because they are voiced in such cartoonish ways. Please bring back the previous narrator, Lisette Lecat. Her pace was a little slow, but she respected the characters. I fell in love with this series in large part because of her excellent narration.

Kyle Blake likes plans. So far, they're pretty simple: Finish her senior year of high school, head off to a good college, find a cute boyfriend, graduate, get a good job, get married, the whole heterosexual shebang. Nothing is going to stand in the way of that plan. Not even Stella Lewis. Stella Lewis also has a plan: Finish her senior year as cheer captain, go to college, finally let herself flirt with (and maybe even date) a girl for the first time and go from there. Fate has other plans for Kyle and Stella when they're paired up in their AP English class.

Satisfying Story
Revisado: 11-25-20
Story: If you’re in the mood for a good fluffy romance novel, this is it. I kept expecting the other shoe to drop but it never did. Nice to see things work out well for lesbians for once. Will be re-reading
Narration: Okay, not bad not great. Hard to distinguish between which girl was narrating the story so watch out for that

Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery.

When she was suddenly given the opportunity of a new life in rural Jutland, journalist and archetypal Londoner Helen Russell discovered a startling statistic: the happiest place on earth isn't Disneyland but Denmark, a land often thought of by foreigners as consisting entirely of long, dark winters, cured herring, Lego and pastries. What is the secret to their success? Are happy Danes born or made?

One of my new favourite books. Laugh-out-loud funny, brilliant narrator, excellent writing. The only downside is I now crave snegls constantly and have had to add Denmark to my already extensive list of places my heart calls home in which my feet have never trod.

This is a fascinating account of a white boy captured and raised by American Indians. He became an Indian and as an adult returned to his original family. I really enjoyed McBride's narration. Would love more books read by him.
