Nothing Short of a Comedic Masterpiece
Revisado: 08-26-22
I already loved James Acaster's work and sense of humor going into reading this, but the insights into his life offered up in this book (and his personality, in how he responded to each occurrence), only served to grow my appreciation of him as a comedian and human overall. Told in a very James way of speaking (obviously, since it is read by the author himself), I couldn't help but snicker, giggle, and chortle out loud through the entire read, inspite of most of it occurring on my public commute to and from work. Very well done indeed. I highly recommend!

Two best-selling Agatha Christie novels in one great audiobook. The Secret Adversary: From the brilliant pen of Agatha Christie comes the first novel in her Tommy and Tuppence mystery series featuring the beloved sleuthing duo. And Then There Were None: One of the most famous and beloved mysteries from the queen of suspense! Ten people, each with something to hide and something to fear, are invited to a isolated mansion on Indian Island by a host, who, surprisingly, fails to appear.

First time reading The Secret Adversary, and I loved it!
And Then There Were None is one of my absolute favourites. A terrifying, and brilliant thriller, I always come back to this one.

Historia
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Super interesting
Revisado: 02-15-20
A bit technical in parts, but not unmanageable. I read this off of a recommendation, and am really glad I did. It has definitely helped inform me about some finer points of mental illness, and has stoked my fire for learning more and helping the field progress.

Historia
Following Jane from her childhood as an orphan in Northern England through her experience as a governess at Thornfield Hall, Charlotte Brontë's Gothic classic is an early exploration of women's independence in the mid-19th century and the pervasive societal challenges women had to endure. At Thornfield, Jane meets the complex and mysterious Mr. Rochester, with whom she shares a complicated relationship that ultimately forces her to reconcile the conflicting passions of romantic love and religious piety.

😢❤ So good.
Revisado: 01-27-20
This is now probably my favourite novel (or at least in the top 3). The way Charlotte Bronte writes is so detailed, so vivid, I feel like I am living everything she describes. I love Jane as the central character. Finding material with strong, intelligent, resilient, real women at its core is hard enough in today's world, nevermind the fact that this was written over 170 years ago.
And special shout out to Thandie Newton for her magnificent narration. She really brought the story and characters to life.
