Historia
Fifteen years have passed since the end of the war with demons, creatures of darkness who have hunted the night and plagued humanity since time out of mind. The heroes of humanity’s hour of need have become legend, and those who remain struggle to escape their shadows. Olive Paper and Darin Bales have grown up in this new peaceful world. Demons have been all but destroyed, but dangers still lurk for the children of heroes.

I miss the original Narrator!
Revisado: 10-09-21
These new narrators do an ok job, but the original narrator is where the story in my mind lives. The voice of Darrin doesn't speak the names of the characters properly and it is kinda unnerving.
The story takes a little longer to suck your in (kinda like book 2) but once the hooks are in you are along for the ride. The angsty teenager can be cringey at times, but inevera.
I am very much looking forward to the following books because this one sets up to have some follow ups for sure.

I was great to hear our familiar friends once again. One part even made me tear up a bit. If you are a fan of all the other IDC books than you will like this one as well.

Great beginning to a new series

I am actually NOT a fan of this narrator. I know he does many epic fantasy but I just am not a fan. That being said I did get into this story and I am eagerly awaiting the next one.

Historia
Inspector Treadles, Charlotte Holmes’ friend and collaborator, has been found locked in a room with two dead men, both of whom worked with his wife at the great manufacturing enterprise she has recently inherited. Rumors fly. Had Inspector Treadles killed the men because they had opposed his wife’s initiatives at every turn? Had he killed in a fit of jealous rage because he suspected Mrs. Treadles of harboring deeper feelings for one of the men? To make matters worse, he refuses to speak on his own behalf, despite the overwhelming evidence against him.

The book does a good job of weaving in the personal character and relationships development of the main characters while relating the story of the case at hand. I did enjoy this book more than the fourth book I think and can't wait for more in this series .

Kell is one of the last Travelers - magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel universes. As such, he can choose where he lands. There's Grey London, dirty and boring, without any magic, ruled by a mad King George. Then there's Red London, where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. There's White London, ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. And once upon a time, there was Black London...but no one speaks of that now.

A new Story line.
Revisado: 10-17-20
With so many epic fantasy consisting of a special novice growing into the hero this was definitely a change. I do however see in the subsequent books that again a character will come into their power they did not know they were capable of. I enjoyed it, although I did stuggle a bit to stay engaged. It took me several months to finish with a couple other books I binged on in between.

Historia
Each night, the world is overrun by bloodthirsty demons. For centuries, humanity survived only by hiding behind defensive wards - magical symbols with the power to repel the demons. Now, the rediscovery of long-forgotten combat wards has given them the magic they need to fight back. In Tibbet’s Brook, the fighting wards have brought change, but the factions and grudges of a troubled past remain. Selia Square, the woman they call Barren, has long been the force that holds the Brook together. As a terrifying new threat emerges, she rallies her people once again.

Historia
Oberon the Irish wolfhound is off to Portland to smell all the things with canine companions, and, of course, his human, ancient Druid Atticus O'Sullivan. The first complication is an unmistakable sign of sinister agendas afoot: a squirrel atop the train. But an even more ominous situation is in store when the trio plus Atticus stumble across a murder upon arrival at the station. They recognize Detective Gabriela Ibarra, who's there to investigate. But they also recognize the body - or rather that the body is a doppelganger for Atticus himself.
