As a Christian reader, I found Relic incredibly frustrating due to the constant misuse of Jesus’ name as an expletive.
The story itself was absurd, and the relentless, derogatory use of Christ’s name, combined with the random and excessive cursing, made it truly awful. I don’t get it.
If you're a Christian who values reverence for the name of Jesus, I’d strongly recommend passing on this book.

“Jesus Was a Youth Leader” by Matthew Arrowood is a refreshing and thought-provoking exploration of Jesus’ ministry through a perspective we don’t often consider. Rather than focusing on His role as a teacher of elders or a revolutionary leader, Arrowood dives into Jesus’ deliberate choice to mentor a group of young men—a concept that might challenge traditional views of leadership in the church.

What made the book especially impactful for me was the author’s narration. You can feel Arrowood’s deep passion for the subject in every word, which brings his arguments and insights to life. His conviction about Jesus as a youth leader resonated with me deeply, inspiring me to reflect on how I approach mentorship and discipleship in my own life.

This book left me both inspired and convicted. Arrowood’s unique perspective reminded me that leadership, no matter how humble or unconventional, can create a lasting impact. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to understand Jesus’ ministry in a new light or to find encouragement in their own roles as leaders and mentors.

Alexei Navalny’s ‘Patriot’ is a profoundly moving testament to the power of conviction and personal sacrifice. The narrative is both inspiring and, at times, heart-wrenching, as it delves into the grim realities faced by those who dare to challenge oppressive regimes. Navalny’s eloquent prose offers a window into the mind of a man for whom the cause of justice outweighs personal safety. This book is a must-read for anyone seeking to understand the true cost of standing up for one’s beliefs in the face of overwhelming adversity.

I’ve spent hours listening to this book, and my verdict? PASS!

If you lean conservative, prepare for a jarring experience. The author spends the latter half lecturing on every woke topic imaginable, leaving little room for differing views. Meanwhile, if you’re on the left, you’ll likely revel in it.

The author insists you’re a victim… and, shockingly, that you’re victimizing others too. Good grief!

In short, if you seek balanced discourse, look elsewhere. PASS!

It seems like the author found 500 illustrations from his life, developed them into one-line points, and crammed them all into one book.
I feel like I heard so much advice and can’t remember a single point… I would pass…

I really want to return this book. There's so much cursing it's ridiculous. Audibles return policy is very frustrating… I'm stuck with a book that I cannot continue reading. The cussing ads nothing to the story. What a shame…

the Bible as a soap opera...

I have a lot of respect for the Bible.
This book turns the Old Testament prophets into a soap opera.
Hezekiah was great according to the Bible. "Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him." 2 Kings 18:5.
This books turns him into Hezzy... the petulant, carnal king always fighting with his wife and arguing with the Prophet Isaiah.
Isaiah is quoted something like 400 times in the New Testament. Every gospel quotes Isaiah within the first chapter.
This books makes Isaiah into a guy walking around naked (author - please, read ONE commentary about what the Bible means by Isaiah being "naked." I'll help you... it doesn't mean NAKED), disrespected, and demoted. The author has Isaiah arguing with Hezekiah and unsure if what he's saying is prophesy or opinion.
This books does NOT illuminate the Bible... it confuses the stories and makes the characters far less noble than some of the wonderful people of God that I know in my life. Sad... Pass on this one.

Prager seems to interpret the Bible loosely to make way for the base passions. “…a little porn is good for you…”
Wait, what? Considering that Prager is a Bible scholar, opinions like that one were surprising.
There is some chicken here… But, maybe too many bones to make it worthwhile.

This is one of Louis L’Amour‘s best. So thoroughly enjoyable. The characters are rich. The good guys are good guys.
