The main character is so happy about winning the fight he doesn’t even dwell on killing three people, and when it finally does hit him, it only seems to mildly dismay him and he’s able to rationalize his reaction away quite easily. Later fights and PvP fights are gruesome and fully enjoyed. But hey, he’s a powerful patriarch who is looking out for his coworkers from a distance so that makes it good, right? And the people he’s killing are cartoon villains so…

The story has a strong start, but you know there's a problem. when the first female character is an evil, sexually driven character who pays no attention to her own clitoris. It only goes down mountain from there, which is very disappointing. it's hard to enjoy the glee of the mimic as it levels when it's paired with the abuse and disempowerment of the female character with a flimsy excuse of "he tortured her so much that she came to crave it."

I couldn't even finish the story. :(

seriously, why does it even matter that the main character is a vampire? there is barely any addressing of the inhuman need for blood, and the tensions that would create between characters. even when a situation occurs that might necessitate Jonathan drinking from Miles, Miles conveniently has a gourd of blood available.
This sort of colorless choice plagues the entire story.

This story is pretty much dedicated to the glory of strait white male culture. also, lots of awkward and unresolved religious themes.

i was fairly disappointed in this book, as the first three were fairly good. there was always the generous and occasionally questionable use of time jumps, but this one... its like the author didnt have the interest or patience to invest in the events described or to connect the readers to the characters experiences. add some serious hand waving (Artorian can reconstruct bodies!) and any feeling of investment, emotional or otherise, has been stripped. no time is spent on exploring the relationships and observations which are, supposedly, Artoriand "thing."

i find myself worried about the next book, I dearly hope that with the world ended and beginning we get more time and interest in the story from the author.

Imma going to be honest with you, this second of the Megamorphs isn't the most favorite of the stories from Animorphs, but this pod cast does all of animorphs Justice.

This is a beautiful book, full of tears and determination. Literary and thoughtful contemplation of the spirit, mind, and body as trapped by an oppressive regime.

You need to have read the first book in the series. this will, at first, only make the story more confusing. accept the confusion and dive deep into the river.

If you need an easy listen, this is not really the book for you. hearing a story in the second person is a bit jarring at first, but not only does the author pull it off, the choice makes sense by the end.

And damnit now i have to wait forever for the nexy book!

the story telling isn't very cohesive but the trip is enjoyable over all. though, with as much under-age drinking as there is, hang-overs and extended bouts of drunkenness should have had more of a presence.
