Not only is the case layers deep but as always has an unexpected twist as they try to unwind the story.

Disappointed, Not really a thriller or a mystery

Not really a thriller, not really a mystery just a story. I usually enjoy archeology and history based thriller, but it just did not meet my expectations. This is the first in a series and I would hope that J. C Ryan will flesh out the stories going forward. It just read/listened like a recitation of facts and circumstances. The author can and has done much better.
The narration was good, but could not overcome the story.

New Approach to Old Mysteries

Kuhns has brought us an entertaining mystery very much in the style of Conan Doyle. Sherlock Holmes and the Scarlet Thread of Murder brings us three detectives and three mysteries that all weave into weave together for a fine story.
The narration was good but when you have three story lines and characters, it requires an involved listening to keep up with the players.
The Novella and the short stories were a good read/listen and I recommend this for anyone looking for a good mystery without all the baggage that modern thrillers seem to have.

Get Ready for Another Chase Baker Thriller

Once again, our protagonist Chase Baker is caught up in an unlikely twist of events.
Get ready to wonder through the north woods and fall into a full blown fast action thriller with ancient secrets, Mythical creatures, and danger at every step. Add in neo-Nazis with guns who will to do anything to find the treasure first.
If you enjoy action thrillers or Chase Baker, you will not be disappointed/
All though shorter than other Chase Baker story it is not lacking in fast paced excitement/

Great narration that helped to build the tension and drama. The character voices as well done and the overall delivery added to the story.

Well Worth the Listen

This is an enjoyable murder mystery or was it just an accidental death. The cops don’t know or do not want to push to hard against the wealth and power of their community. The father of the victim hires Private Investigator Jack Marconi to prove the murder. All sounds pretty standard the it begins to turn to the dark side and P. I. Marconi begins to unravel a tale of power, intrigue, and a dark side the disturbs even him.
This is a great story with a enough twist and turns to keep you listening until the very end.
This is a good story with very good narration.

A Good Straight Forward Mystery

Good reads but predictable

If you like good mysteries, this is an enjoyable Read/Listen it is entertaining although the story line felt predictable. I you are looking for a Harry Bosch or a Jack Reacher this is not the story for you, but if you can relax and enjoy a well written mystery with good characters this is great book.

Hetta is in an adventurous romp through Mexico

Hetta and Jan are back again in a fun romp in Sea of Cortez looking for treasure and avoiding Mexican Gangster, police and sundry other challenges. Hetta is a full time boater, and avoids conventional life, giving her time for a variety of adventures and misadventures. She joins her friend Jan, takes a job with Jan's beau, Chino and the gang on their expedition to find the lost Japanese galleon under the Mexican sea of Cortez.
As is typical with this series there is always an unexpected twist or two or three.
It was well worth the Read/Listen but I did find the narration a little hard on the ears.
