Not For Me
Revisado: 04-29-25
I very much disliked the sound and tone of the reader’s voice. Nothing sounded sincere to me, which I know is opposite of the author’s intent. This was a disappointing turn-off instead of an inspiring listen.

Historia
In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir. A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved. Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Wonderful!
Revisado: 11-24-19
This was as great as I was hoping it would be! I thought it was perfect that Sir Elton John read the prologue and epilogue. Taron Egerton was the perfect reader for the rest of the book. This autobiography managed to be both entertaining and heartwarming, while being at times unflinching and honest. There were some great tidbits of information about other well-known people and interactions they have had with the author, but this is not a gossipy exploitative or salacious tell-all. It is truly the story of an incredible man’s life, and how he experienced and felt on his journey to arrive at the place he is now. Truly a wonderful audiobook!

Disappointing
Revisado: 11-03-19
The narration and production value of this audiobook are good, but the story itself was disappointing. I had to force myself to listen through to the end. I thought the story was much too long. I also didn’t realize that the heart of the story was going to be a different take on heaven, hell, god, the devil, and religion. Clearly, many other readers enjoyed this more than I did.
One thing that was unbelievable for me was the way second grade children were portrayed as being able to independently plan and build an elaborate tree house with windows and stairs. In fact, they were able to rustle up the building materials and haul them through the snow on sleds into the forest. They also regularly used curse words. These 7 year olds also pulled off a plan where they were able to manipulate cell phone messages and trick parents into thinking they were spending the night at each other’s houses, when in reality they were out in the forest building a sophisticated tree house. I am actually pretty good at suspending disbelief, and this was not my main difficulty with this book, but it did have me chuckling at times because it was so unrealistic.
Ultimately, I regret using a credit on this book. I was hoping for a chilling horror thriller, and this started out promising but started to drag on and did not hold my interest.

This Is A Fabulous Audio Book!
Revisado: 02-02-18
Although this is the second book of the series, it can be enjoyed without having read the previous book. However, I think there will probably be a special enjoyment for those who are already familiar with the back story of Anna and Joe's relationship. What I know for sure is that I am interested in a third book to find out what happens next!
This historical mystery has suspense, humor, and romance. There is a bit of violence and gore, which would be expected from the story synopsis. One thing that I especially enjoyed and found unique was the setting of China Town in early 20th century Los Angeles. There were a few places in the story that felt a bit draggy, but the reader helped hold my interest.
The production quality of this as an audio book was exceptional, as was the reader.
