Historia
When Brendan Leonard moved to the West at age 23, he was a mess. He had a tenuous grip on sobriety, only six months after his last drink had landed him in yet another jail cell. It was the final mistake in a long list that included multiple arrests, wrecked cars, broken bones, fistfights, and ruined relationships. In Montana, he took his first steps into the Rocky Mountains, unwittingly beginning a decade-long obsession with climbing and a journey that would take him all over the West and Europe.

Tale of sobriety and climbing
Revisado: 03-03-22
I didn't personally connect with the story, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Well written, well performed. It's hard to call the book "enjoyable" as the subject matter was often very difficult, but it was a quick and interesting read. You can tell Brendan Leonard is genuine in his writing.

Allowed unparalleled access to team practices, private moments, and the mind of Mark Wetmore - one of the country's most renowned and controversial coaches - Lear provides a riveting look inside the triumphs and heartaches of a perennial national contender and the men who will stop at nothing to achieve excellence.

All time great running book!
Revisado: 02-28-22
This is one of my favorite running books of all-time. The story of Adam Goucher, Chris Severy, Mark Wetmore and the 1998 Colorado cross country team is an awesome behind the curtains look at what it takes to be great and how incredibly motivated these athletes and coaches are.

Historia
Scottie Pippen has been called one of the greatest NBA players for good reason. Simply put, without Pippen, there are no championship banners - let alone six - hanging from the United Center rafters. There’s no Last Dance documentary. There’s no “Michael Jordan” as we know him. The 1990s Chicago Bulls teams would not exist as we know them. So how did the youngest of 12 go from growing up poor in the small town of Hamburg, Arkansas, enduring two family tragedies along the way, to become a revered NBA legend?

Disappointment
Revisado: 11-26-21
I grew up loving Scottie Pippen. Was hoping to hear some behind the scenes stories of the Bulls/90s basketball.
Instead, the theme of the book was "I'm not appreciated enough" and throwing blame at seemingly everyone else - especially MJ.
Not a lot of substance here. Seems like more controversial stories meant to sell books...

Historia
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Fun and inspirational! interesting character study of a man who has overcome a lot to become an over-acheiver in life.
I have no desire to ever be this "hard" but it does make you think we all probably have more potential we could tap into

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Captivating story... another gem by Andy Weir

If you were a fan of the Martian, you are going to appreciate this one...
Loved the narrator and the characters and I found myself consistently engaged in the whole book (aka - no parts really dragged for me).

Historia
Matt Fitzgerald has already made a name for himself in the endurance-sport community with books like 80/20 Running, How Bad Do You Want It?, and Iron War. He is an accomplished amateur runner, but if he follows the training, nutrition, and lifestyle of an elite runner, just how fast could he go? He is approaching his mid-40s, so the time to do this is now. He at last has the financial means to do nothing but train.
