I studied CBT under Ass. Professor Luanda Marques at the Harvard Medical School. This audiobook reminds me of her tutorials, but with this audiobook, you can access the dulcet-toned advice any time you want.
The way the audiobook breaks things down felt practical and doable. I liked the short exercises and how they guide you in applying them in real situations. It didn’t assume I had everything figured out already, which I appreciated. Some examples even hit a little too close to home, in a good way. I’ve just begun using a few of the techniques when I’m feeling overwhelmed, and they feel like they have made a difference to both my feelings of stress and anxiety. Fortunately, I have no anger to speak of except when it comes to politics.

When I became a caregiver for my wife, my doctor told me when she was about 5 years into her dementia that "Caregivers go to the funny farm first." I've read many books that stress me out or feel out of touch. This one struck the right balance. It doesn't sugarcoat the hard stuff but doesn't make me feel like I'm failing. The tips are straightforward, and the advice applies to situations I deal with daily. I appreciated how it acknowledged the emotional side of caregiving without making it all about me. This book demonstrates the delicate understanding of getting on with your individual life to be resilient about providing care versus allowing it to consume you.

I’ve gone through workbooks before, but this one clicked for me. I didn’t just listen to it—I’ve been using it. The thought record idea helped me slow down racing thoughts, and the grounding exercises, like naming what I see or hear, have been a lifesaver when I feel overwhelmed. I also tried a few of the vagus nerve practices, and they really help me reset when I’m anxious. It’s not just pages of advice—it’s stuff I can actually do. Having CBT, DBT, and ACT tools all in one place makes it easier to figure out what works for me, depending on the day.

I hope this review meets AMZ rules, as it was written by my 27-year-old daughter, for whom I bought the audiobook.

"I have always struggled speaking up because I feared being assertive might mean losing my gentle side. This book was exactly what I needed. From the first chapter, I felt understood. It reassured me that I can be confident and assertive without sacrificing what makes me feminine. The encouraging, down-to-earth tone helped that message sink in. By the end, I felt more grounded in myself and my strength as a woman. I appreciate that the guidance is practical and not preachy. Now I know I can speak up and still feel completely like myself."

After passing the Ontario Police Ice Diver exam years ago, I never thought I’d be so interested in the idea of cold exposure, but this audiobook got me thinking. It breaks down different methods in an approachable, not extreme or overwhelming way. The straightforward explanations make it easy to see why so many people swear by it. I found myself wanting to learn more and even reconsider my usual routine. The narration keeps it engaging, and the concepts are surprisingly practical.
I am looking forward to seeing the results of using this fascinating concept.

I thought this would be an amusing listen while sitting in an airport lounge waiting for a delayed flight to take off.
I didn't know what to expect from this story, but it grabbed me from the start as it wasn't just about the litany of inconveniences that beset you in a situation at an airport when your plane is delayed. Beyond the experience of being stranded in an airport, what impacted me the most was how it explores uncertainty, decision-making under pressure, and resilience. I liked that it doesn't just focus on the challenges but also on the lessons learned along the way. The narration feels genuine and relatable, making you feel part of the experience. It's an interesting reflection on how we handle unforeseen events and what we can learn from them.

This book goes beyond the usual highlights and dives into the lesser-known sides of baseball. I was especially drawn to the stories about women breaking barriers in the sport, proving their place in a game dominated by men. It's like a reality version of "A League of Their Own," and I couldn't help thinking about Susan Sarandon's character. It also takes a hard look at baseball’s past, from racial segregation that kept legends in the shadows to scandals that shook the league. The sections on bizarre player superstitions were a fun surprise—some are wild! Whether you're a lifelong fan or love a good underdog story, this collection offers a fresh perspective on the game. It will also entertain in a middle seat on a long flight like I just did.

This audiobook goes beyond just explaining AI—it tackles real challenges like team resistance and change management during digital transformation. It lays out clear strategies for getting teams on board and ensuring they have the right skills to work with AI. The section on data governance was especially valuable, breaking down how to keep data reliable and high quality. I also liked the “Tech-to-Business” diagrams, which made complex concepts easier to understand. If you're looking for a guide that balances strategy and practical application, this is a solid choice.

I am not a woman, but I sought to help a friend, a new entrepreneur. This audiobook gave me the right tool to give my friend the much-needed but gentle push to step up and make decisions confidently. The advice is straightforward and practical, focusing on overcoming self-doubt and taking charge in business. I liked how it addressed real challenges women face without sugarcoating things. The tone is encouraging but not over-the-top, making it easy to stay engaged. I think it will help her shift her mindset and approach challenges with more self-assurance and hopefully reduce her need to rely on me as a mentor. This has some solid insights if you're looking for a way to build confidence in your career or business.
