Historia
Dhane kicked the bucket in spectacular fashion, every bone crushed, every organ popped against the full force of a 40-ton garbage truck speeding through a red light. The only part of him intact—whole—entirely unaffected by the grisly affair was his soul. Souls are durable things, you see, like kids: they bounce. And bounce he did, into the abyss between worlds, drifting until one excited soul watcher fished him out and found him a new home, a heaven for gamers and nerds and everything in between.

Narration was fantastic.
Revisado: 04-14-25
I loved the humor and the narration sold the humor exceptionally. His writing style had a great cadence, which made it an easy listen and likely aided the narrator.
Story was okay. Nothing overly engaging but definitely an enjoyable listen. Weren’t many places where I missed parts due to external distractions which to me gives it a positive review from my viewpoint.

Historia
Absalom Scryne, the greatest wizard of his generation, has been murdered. There's no other explanation for why his consciousness now resides in his well-worn but perfectly pointed hat. Well, he isn't going to take that lying down . . . or hanging from a branch, as the case may be.

Surprised
Revisado: 01-03-25
I’ve listened to a lot of audio books. And by a lot I mean in the thousands. This writer is skilled. The book is technically in the 1st person yet he writes it as if it’s in 3rd, which allows him to avoid overusing the “me” and “I” references that cause 1st person writing to feel primitive. On top of that, his use and application of a wide vocabulary is impressive and well done with descriptors that were dramatic and kept your attention.
I kept thinking that he must either have an ADHD child, or be ADHD himself because his understanding of the focus of someone who’s brain operates in the way of the main character sounds extremely relatable to how I felt as an ADHD child. Absolutely insightful from my point of view.
Performance of the narration was spot on and sounded just like I would have performed it in my head.
Storyline wasn’t anything too extraordinary apart from the original hat idea. However not bad either and I’m certainly not complaining. Kept me engaged and I certainly enjoyed it. Light hearted yet not too cheesy in my estimation.

Historia
A Secret Service operative and dedicated survivalist, Special Agent Del Roosevelt had a plan for every world-ending scenario and regularly trained for them all. He was even ready for a date with the hottest woman in his office next Friday. At least he hoped so. But all that training, all those rations, all that prepping? Useless for the apocalypse that actually played out. Del wakes up half-buried in a giant trash pile, missing his thumbs. And, um, covered in red fur. He's stuck in a world of fuzzy monsters, senseless violence, and cult-like crusaders.

Unique
Revisado: 10-06-24
I had to wonder if Ugland was high while writing this because the setting in my imagination is trippy as anything I can imagine. However that’s not a dig, it’s super original and keeps you wondering if he’s in some kinda sleep or if it’s actually happening. Really keeps the reader from being able to predict what any outcomes might be. Really enjoyed it.

Drama
Revisado: 05-30-24
The writing is good and the narration is great. However it felt a little too much like a teenage girl, romantic drama. Had a great premise but the romantic element was far overblown in my opinion. That’s just me though.

I have listened to over 300 audiobooks in my short time. Of this virtual game style genre, this is easily my favorite. Great character development and story line.
