Historia
Who is THE NOWHERE MAN? He is spoken about only in whispers. He comes to those in greatest need of his protection. There is no enemy he cannot fight. He lives by his own code. He takes no prisoners. His name is Evan Smoak. Taken from a group home when he was young, Evan was raised and trained as an Orphan, an off-the-books black box program designed to create the perfect deniable intelligence asset: An assassin.

Totally different plot type for an Assassin Novel!
Revisado: 05-13-23
I’ve never read a novel in this genre with this type of plot and I loved it. It’s not a person who’s on the attack or defending himself in shifting locations. It’s a totally different dynamic. (Can’t spoil it for you!) It is GOOD. I enjoyed being in Evan’s head as he sussed out his options in this weird predicament and worked on them step by step. The last chapters have absolutely unexpected plot twists and are brilliantly crafted. I’m loving this series. And the reader is phenomenal.

This book is when it REALLY gets good!
Revisado: 05-25-21
Jim Butcher is one of my favorite authors because his series get better and better with each novel. The first two Codex Alera books are very good, but they’re setting you up for this one when the plot line really builds momentum. The character development is phenomenal. The writing is as good as ever from Mr. Butcher, and Kate Reading never lets us down in her reading. I forget that it’s a woman reading so many male characters. I devoured this book, laughed at loud a few times, and can’t wait for the next one.

From author and illustrator Sophie Lucido Johnson comes Love Without Sex, a fascinating three-part Audible Original that explores nontraditional relationships and shows how breaking down stereotypes and misconceptions around love can help us all build stronger, healthier connections to one another. In our culture, the rom-com boy-meets-girl romantic set up is by and large the most persistent love story.

Revisado: 02-15-21
Such a thoughtful conversation about what it means to love and take care of each other as well as ourselves. I’m not polyamorous or asexual, but the things I learn from Sophie Lucido Johnson’s books definitely help me have better relationships and more love in my life.
As to this production, Sophie’s narration and all the interviews are done very well and kept me engaged.

Revisado: 11-02-20
I’m a big fan of Jen Sincero’s books, the way she gets her point across and her way of speaking. This one is about how to stay focused and energized everyday, and it’s in written in small enough segments that you could easily take a few nibbles everyday to keep yourself going. I love it.

Helpful in SO MANY WAYS
Revisado: 05-26-20
A friend read me a paragraph on communication from this book when I was struggling to figure out how to say something hard to my sister. It really helped. So I decided to read it. Not only has it opened my mind to the possibilities of polyamory, but I feel more capable of having better relationships with everyone in my life thanks to the attitudes and advice they offer. I feel more ready to have courage, be a good communicator, and just be more awesome.

A great pandemic book
Revisado: 03-27-20
At first I thought it would be unhealthy to listen to this during the Covid 19 lockdown, but it actually gave me a lot of peace. And hope. First of all, our current flu is so much less deadly than the one in this book, but the plot line reminded me that people will always take care of each other and find ways to thrive. It’s a love letter to the way we all impact each other, told through all the character’s interwoven lives.
The writing style, character development, and reading are excellent.

How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Wonderful performance!
Revisado: 01-01-20
This book seriously impacted how I see my own interactions, and the characterizations of events I see in the news. But it was also one of the best Audiobook performances I’ve heard, and I’ve listened to at least 3 books a month for nearly a decade. Malcolm Gladwell reads like a conversation is going on, there’s audio recordings of events described, reenactments of events using actors...it’s incredible.

In January 2019, culture writer Anne Helen Petersen set the internet on fire with her viral BuzzFeed essay diagnosing “millennial burnout” - a chronic state of stress and exhaustion that’s become a “base temperature” for young people today. Now, she continues this generation-defining conversation in a brand-new format, interviewing millennials around the country about their own deeply personal experiences with burnout, and the culture that creates it.

Revisado: 10-17-19
As the author says, just hearing about a conversation on burnout makes you feel less alone and more normal. These are great interviews and I like Anne Helen Peterson’s writing/speaking style. It felt like one bite though, so I was a little unsatisfied and want the entire meal. I’m looking forward to the whole book.
