Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. Incredible! You must listen!!!!
Revisado: 02-11-24
She has done it again and possibly out done herself!! This was an amazing book and Julia Whalen was without a doubt the only narrator for the job. I didn’t know much about the Vietnam war as it happened when my mother was a toddler. I became close with a man who lived on my street after helping him up off the ground one rainy day he had fallen caring for his precious lilys. He said people drove by him, looked but continued driving. After that day Dick would walk down to my house, always with a bag of cookies and he would tell me about his time in Vietnam and life after. He and his wife lost more than a dozen pregnancies and 7 or 8 children at young ages after his exposure to Agent Orange. I was a young stay at home mother of 3 and hadn’t realized how important Dicks visits were to me until he stopped coming. He was the first person and only person I knew to serve in Vietnam and the first to die at the very beginning of Covid. He once told me it was important to say welcome home to anyone I meet who served in Vietnam.
I am proud as much as I am pained that women were not recognized for their service in Vietnam. This book brought me a new glimpse into what life must have been like for Dick and so many others. I love how Kristin can bring her stories to life and make you feel as though you are apart of them. This is a book that will stick with me always and one I hope will be read by millions.

Historia
With poignant insight and humor, Frank Vertosick, Jr., MD, describes some of the greatest challenges of his career, including a six-week-old infant with a tumor in her brain, a young man struck down in his prime by paraplegia, and a minister with a .22-caliber bullet lodged in his skull. Told through intimate portraits of Vertosick's patients and unsparing-yet-fascinatingly detailed descriptions of surgical procedures, When the Air Hits Your Brain illuminates both the mysteries of the mind and the realities of the operating room.

What a journey. Easy to follow and understand. I especially enjoyed the end of this book which was written six years after the book was written.

Beautiful
Revisado: 01-01-23
I really enjoyed Flight! I love the way each character’s personality was described in such a way you can relate with each and decipher character from character. Well done, beautifully written and so intuitive. Looking forward to Lynn’s future work.

Historia
Through the years, I lived more as an enigma than a man. For so long, I denied I had a beating heart of my own. Until her. Until she unearthed the starving vessel inside, forced me to acknowledge it, forced me to understand that I’m capable of bleeding the same as any other. For that, we paid. We're still paying. Yet she demands it still; the useless heart of the ruthless thief and shameless villain she fell for. My fear is that I’m no longer that man.

I am normally a bit too modest for the steamy scenes but this book series is just irresistible. When I began the series I had a few moments where I thought I might be listening to The Fast and Furious. However, this is not that. I hope there is a fourth book because this series makes me feel alive. Well done!

Historia
No electricity, no family, no connection to the outside world. For eight years, Cooper and his young daughter, Finch, have lived in isolation in a remote cabin in the northern Appalachian woods. And that's exactly the way Cooper wants it, because he's got a lot to hide. Finch has been raised on the books filling the cabin’s shelves and the beautiful but brutal code of life in the wilderness. But she’s starting to push back against the sheltered life Cooper has created for her - and he’s still haunted by the painful truth of what it took to get them there.

Desperate for your next book..
Revisado: 01-31-21
I finished this book yesterday and cannot move on. I half heard talk about this book and author on a morning show and bought it without even knowing what it was about. Once I started it I could not stop and finished it in 24 hours. I am remarried , a mom of 2 boys and a step mom of a teenage daughter. My oldest biological son has a step mother, 2 younger brothers, and an older sister in his father's household. I felt as if I could relate to nearly every character in this book. The story and the real raw thoughts no matter how dark, reveal how hard motherhood really is, and how truly right our instincts are, it will take you to the darkest most private places of motherhood, and make you wonder about your own mother's childhood. I cannot forget to mention the narrator, she was absolutely amazing!!!
