Monster hunting
Revisado: 04-04-25
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Action throughout and no side stories that veer off the trajectory of the plot. I can see myself listening to this again soon. Narrator is great and main characters are logical / methodical which makes it easy to follow their thinking. Some wild cards are introduced and it’s just what the story needed to reach maximum enjoyment.

Historia
Rick Yancey’s first gothic suspense tale, The Monstrumologist, earned him a prestigious Michael L. Printz Award. The second installment of this acclaimed series, Curse of the Wendigo, finds young Will Henry on the hunt for a supernatural beast plaguing New England in the late 1800s. Will and his mentor, the domineering Dr. Warthrop, are enlisted to help the doctor’s former fiancée. It seems her husband has been lost in the Canadian wilderness.

A struggle to get through but the last quarter is good
Revisado: 04-04-25
Felt a bit slow compared to the first one - with a lesser supporting cast as well. Only near the end does it become a thriller. The doctor was a broken record throughout, and there was an added aspect of romance which I don’t really care for. Would have preferred it stuck to monster hunting and less rambling - especially from the doctor.

Historia
The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

Excellent book
Revisado: 03-02-25
Each story is a mysterious supernatural tale - all culminating to an interesting end. As a lover of both genres - this book was delightful and I was unable to put it down at some point. The fact this has any bad reviews is a testament to a line from the very book itself.

It’s a good crime novel
Revisado: 02-26-25
It’s not at the top of my list, but it’s a solid book that doesn’t degrade into a romance novel like some crime books, and for that it has my love. Steady pace, mystery, action, and I enjoyed the comedy. Characters went from likable, to annoying, to likable again for me. Lacks the main character that you get attached to that most crime novels have but that’s alrite as it’s something new and enjoyable enough that you don’t want to put the book down.

Good horror story
Revisado: 02-26-25
Once you start you can’t stop. Mystery, horror, and some pretty generic characters keeps things from being too complicated while also keeping you interested and following the story easy enough. Well written and well read. Idk why but it remind me of scooby doo movies where the happenings are real, and in this case, for adults.

Great story of supernatural
Revisado: 02-26-25
The tale is interesting and goes through time following the main character throughout the ages. Combination of many things from action to suspense to violence and the supernatural. Having read over 200 on books on here, this is an original story that captures your imagination. Well written, good narration. Not for the faint of heart.

Why do writers do this
Revisado: 08-31-24
Ruin a good story with a female who complains about everything. I was hopeful since they are making movies out of these books but they must do a lot of rewriting to make it bearable let alone good

Historia
During a houseboat vacation on the remote Lake of the Woods, a violent gale sweeps through unexpectedly, stranding Cork and his daughter, Jenny, on a devastated island where the wind has ushered in a force far darker and more deadly than any storm. Amid the wreckage, Cork and Jenny discover the body of a teenage girl. She wasn't killed by the storm, however; she'd been bound and tortured before she died. Nearby, underneath a tangle of branches, they also find a baby boy, hungry and dehydrated, but still very much alive.

Started off interesting, turned into a total snooze fest. Story is completely consumed by his daughters desire to adopt a baby she found in the woods. There’s a killer out there but who cares? Let’s talk about how god works in mysterious ways and the baby. The baby, the baby, the baby.

good mystery/crime
Revisado: 02-09-24
I enjoyed this book, I also like the use of 3 readers that keeps it fresh and helps you know which character the story is following. Many options are presented for the crime and only one can be true. Many novels can feel slow and too methodical but this one does well to keep the story moving and interesting.
